Went to Verizon Store--Got Employee Bionic Swag

I'm glad to see that the Bionic is a bit thinner than the Charge and Thunderbolt. I hope to have the phone in my hands by Friday!

Me too, but I didn't think they were TOO thick in the first place. Just a bit chunky because of the LTE radio, and I really didn't like the Charge design all that much anyways, it looked old, maybe because of the physical buttons, but mostly just the shape of the phone looked kind of old and outdated. At least to me.

Yeah the current LTE phones don't bother me as far as thickness at all. I have a Thunderbolt now and it's just fine to me, so a little bit thinner won't hurt.

Anything thinner than the iPhone (or GSII) is silly, anything thicker than the Thunderbolt is silly. There's how thick you can have it, Motorola, Samsung, etc. Don't make it too thin that it slides out of my hand, or too thick that it won't fit in my hand. I have pretty average sized hands, but I love huge technology :)

I guess I should clarify. The screen has plenty of real estate. Those wanting a big screen will be more than satisfied. When I said it is skinnier, I wasn't referring to thickness, but rather, the length from the left side to the right side. It is plenty wide, without being uncomfortably wide.

Look at me, acting like having a cardboard phone is as good as holding the real one in hand. Haha.

Wait...if you're in SB....then that means you went to a Verizon store near me . Today would've been a good day to go to the Verizon store then. Where did you go exactly?

YES .4" DEPTH! That will sure feel better than my .51" OG Droid.. Certainly some good information! Great find!

Thanks for the info.

I'm a little disturbed they didn't list a standard Dock - I'm not paying $99 for an HD Dock. I certainly hope they sell a standard dock for around $40..

Haha, right now I am actually down in LA, went to a store in Montclair. But I do my dealings with the Verizon store on north State Street (not the one right next to Paseo Nuevo). That place is pretty fancy.

Well in the event that they do not release a standard dock, third parties always release accessories like this. Seidio is a brand I trust, and they have standard docks for a bunch of phones. I'd expect the same treatment with the Bionic since it is a high profile release.

Holy crap I have some updating to do with the FAQ. Way to score some epic swag and more than 15min of internet fame :D

Its looking really good to release soon. Major kudos four, most definately the right time at the right place.

Same here, that's the main one. Right next to El Pollo Loco? We have one in Calle Real, but I hate messing with those other Verizon stores, they always send me to the main one downtown. Best Buy and Costco, since they are resellers, and not part of the Verizon corporate, do seem to have the best service though. Luckily, I live like right in the middle of SB and Goleta, where they meet, so I can drive to Costco and get it, or drive to Verizon on State Street. Hopefully that Costco deal rings true, and I can stop myself from pre-ordering it from Verizon.

I feel ya. I live in IV so Costco is definitely closer. And if that deal turns out to be true, I won't be able to say no. The Best Buy mobile department in Goleta is bad. They wouldn't price match the Bolt on launch day, and it was like $100 cheaper at the Verizon store. I said, I will buy this phone right now from you guys at retail price if you match Verizon's price. They said no. So I drove into town and took my business elsewhere.. Just bad service.

Gahh the wait for this phone is getting as bad as the Thunderbolt...!

Well the real kicker is, I spent a bunch of time wandering around Barnes and Noble looking for the stupid book and ended up asking a customer service rep if they had it, and she said no (even though the site said it was in stock). So if I would have spent a little bit less time wandering around aimlessly, I may have run into the rep and been giving you folks some hands on impressions instead of details about a cardboard cutout :(

THAT would have been right place at the right time. But no complaints here I guess, still got some sweet swag. And holding the device in hand only would have made it that much harder.

(That's what she said)

Well we can't always get the best. A cardboard cutout is better than nothing lol. I know if I was holding the phone I'd try to steal it ;)(no not really lol). I'd probably offer the guy (or girl) a bunch of money for it right there and then ahaha. And we'll be seeing hands on impressions hopefully this weekend :p.

True, but you also need a Costco card to buy a phone at Costco ;). Luckily, my parents have membership there, so no problem there lol. And yes, I bought my Chocolate at Best Buy, and the service was awful. They convinced my mom to buy some junk for it, which I don't even like anyways. I did like the invisible shield, but not the case. And once my original phone broke, and got my free replacement (I have no idea how it was free) I got stock without that, and only this crappy plastic case that doesn't work right.
And I expected you to live in IV if you're going to UCSB lol. That was obvious.

Haha, and just like that my Dropbox public folder has been suspended for excessive traffic. I'll have to upload them elsewhere when I get home this afternoon.

Wonder if I should sell my Droid 3 and get the bionic. I really like the Droid 3, but the bionic looks great.
