We've got the HTC 10 and we're answering your questions right here!

Re: We've got the HTC 10 — and we're answering your questions right here!

A few questions:

01. Does the screen turn on when receiving a notification?

02. If you get a text, can you swipe up on the notification bubble on the lockscreen to reply?

03. If you're in an app and get a text, can you swipe down or open an overlay tray to respond on the spot without the need to open the app?

04. On the M7, when the speaker was done playing audio there was a faint clipping sound (the amp turning off). They fixed this in the M8. Do you hear any popping after audio is played? It usually occurs after 1 - 2 seconds and is noticeable in quiet rooms.

How is Bluetooth? That's been a huge issue for me on Android phones.

Is the 10 Loudness better than m9?

In the recent apps screen can you still go into settings via its 3 dot menu and switch between the stock recent apps screen and HTC's grid switcher?

I was gonna ask this because I use the grid option on my M8, I don't like the cards

I have read most of the available reviews out there and most people are very pleased with the new SLCD 5 display. Some have mentioned a slight color shift from various angles, but apart from that nothing major...until I found a review on a German website: HTC 10 Test: Starkes Flaggschiff mit kleinen Schwächen

Is this really how the HTC 10 display look like? It looks dimmed and completely broken. Can anybody that has used the device (I guess the AC staff) say something about it?

Have a look at the attached pictures.

Another question, are you using the v1.24 for all your camera testing? Apparently this version solves many of the issues originally found..

Here is another source comparing the max brightness of HTC 10 against other phones. HTC 10 screen seems to suffer with similar issues as LG G5 LCD screen.

I have already asked OP regarding this and hopefully will a reply soon.

Hi,

I am considering buying this phone can you please run a test and answer the following questions it would really help out.

1. Can it play 1080p HEVC (H.265) encoded video in a (.mkv) container
2. Can it play 1080p 10-bit HEVC (H.265) encoded video in a (.mkv) container
3. Can it play 2160p HEVC (H.265) encoded video in a (.mkv) container
4. Can it play 2160p 10-bit HEVC (H.265) encoded video in a (.mkv) container
5. Can it play Dolby Audio natively (.ac3) and Dolby lossless (.dts)
Considering the HTC 10 has a Snapdragon 820 processor I’m assuming it can play HEVC files, but I don’t know if it can play the files efficiently.
If you don’t have HEVC encoded files please PM me, I will send you the links for the files to test.

Is the screen really 5.2 inches? All the leaks leading up to the reveal, as well as the gfxbench listed the device as having a 5.1 inch screen.

Hmm I know it's weird to nitpick about 0.05 inches, but I'm a little annoyed by the false advertising. Along with the screen issues mentioned by petvas72, I might consider canceling my preorder.
It's not false advertising, they're simply rounding to the nearest tenth, most people don't really go more accurate than that. A 5 is generally rounded up, so 5.15 is for all intents and purposes 5.2. And we're talking half of a tenth of an inch here, or a twentieth of an inch, not even a sixteenth.

Fair enough. But I think we can agree the display quality issues mentioned above are a little cause for concern.

Hi Alex, tweeted this to you too, do you know if the HTC 10 has aptX audio codec? Can't find any info regarding this. G5 has aptX HD, hoping the HTC 10 does too (although not in any way a deal-breaker for me).

Pretty sure I'm going trade my GS6 for this baby. May not be technically as good as Samsungs best (GS7e) but there's something about it I prefer...

Why cancel your pre order? Get the phone, if you don't like it, return it.

Oh wow, that's bad... Android Central, can you confirm brightness? Even against other LCD panels like the 5X and 6S. Thanks!
