Once Cyanogen team gets crackin on this one (head start already underway) we could easily see a Gingerbread ROM ready to go by the time it launches. That alone could make it a nice win over the Bionic.

What i want to know is what the battery life on this thing is going to be like. If it's as crappy as my incredible battery, i may have to reconsider. I don't want to have to buy an extended battery. It's too big and makes the device look awful.

What you also have to think about it it better to have 768 ram that's slower or 512 that's faster. Most would take the 512 and the extra ram in the TB is needed just to run sense. While I love sense I will say its a memory hog and you will need that much ram

This will be a good option for those who want lte and were holding out. It will be good for jan, but will be left behind quickly as other devices are released.

If the TB comes out next month or at least before the iphone, it may be a success for Verizon. But if they hold out, it will be a Fail. HTC said they would be the first 4G on verizon so this thing MUST come out this month or early next month. right?

^^ But the problem with that is if the iPhone 4 is announced on Tuesday a lot of people will hold out for that this phone would have Been mine if it had a timely release but their are now more and better options right around the corner

Sure there may be better options, but it's still the best thing to do. I'll still get it. I'll never buy an iphone. Coming from a blackberry only a few months ago, im loving android. I don't think it gets any better than it. Imo the only thing Apple does well is make an attractive device that's built well.

Hey I never said I wanted an iPhone I don't I wont buy one as smooth as ios is I love android. I was speaking about the bionic but that's a better choice for me not all.

Yea like ive been saying. If the TB comes out when the Bionic comes out, it will be fail because the level of competion is too high. Dual core 4g HD screen on th Bionic owns. However the TB vs the iphone is a valid competition. Although i think TB wins easily.Bigger, faster 4G. And other than apple fan boys, people may still choose the TB if they do a real comparison. If the TB launches soon it can be a success. Launch later and it's a FAIL. Period.

If the TB launches anywhere near the iPhone's launch, it will be a flop. The pent-up demand for an iPhone, and the focus that Verizon will put on it, will make anything that launches at the same time suffer greatly.

To be perfectly blunt, it doesn't matter if the TB is a better device; the fact that there will finally be an iPhone on Verizon will negate any advantage the TB might have.

That's true. That being the case. It's still better to launch sooner than later. If it launches later, it will seem like an outdated phone once everyone discovers dual core.

Yeah the timing is critical for the TB's launch. They have to thread the needle between the iPhone and the other android monsters that will come out in the Summer. If I were them, I'd wait until AFTER the iPhone launches and that demand is filled (which it should be, since they've supposedly been building up stock of the CDMA iPhone for months), but before the other LTE phones come out.

That's a small window. I doubt they do that since the TB has the power to be a Flagship device. Lol Verizon may become a victim of having TOO many awesome phones. They should have held off on the Bionic. Maybe give Motorola time to come up with an os that will take advantage of the Dual Core.

I'm somewhat confused about the processor info floating around out there. The HTC website identifies the Snapdragon MSM8655 as only being 1ghz. However, Quallcomm's website shows their "flagship" Snapdragon MSM8655 processor as being 1.2ghz. Would HTC/Verizon underclock the processor?

I've been shopping around for my first Android phone (coming from a BB Storm 2) and have been holding out for the LTE phones to drop. Thinking the Thunderbolt will be it or I may hold out for the Bionic.

The iPhone 4 will cannibalize all Verizon Androids, including the Bionic.

Yes it will, and this I coming from a Guy that loves android. But I've heard that Tuesday's press conference could also be for the HTC trophy. Which could push the iPhone launch into summer time meaning that most of the power house phones will be out before summer

The iPhone is more likely to eat its young, the feature phone that is. People buy stuff because of the supposed statement it makes. I will not get the iPhone for that reason and the fact I personally believe Android has more to offer today, tomorrow and the long term. Having so many mfg's working on devices means you get to have so much technology updates that by the time you get your next Android phone it will still have tech that came out a year or two before Apple decides you should have it.

The idea that the event is for the Trophy is not plausible. As the invitations went out, certain tech sites kept track of them and there were a large number of Apple-friendly bloggers and journalists. There was also one notable omission, that would have only not been invited at the request of Apple; Gizmodo. If it was an event for the Trophy, those Apple-friendly journalists wouldn't have been on the list, and Gizmodo would.

Surprisingly Gizmodo had lots of stories on their site about it today. I guess it's news and news = traffic.

The 3rd generation chips won't be shipping until next year.

Not according to Qualcomm. When a chip "ships" that does not mean that it shows up in devices that you and I can buy. It means they've developed it to the point that they're ready to begin letting device manufacturers play with it. Then they will go into mass production to meet the orders. The Third Gen Snapdragons have been sampled out to companies like HTC for them to begin developing hardware around the chip. The first Third Gens were shipped at some point this past summer. We'll probably see devices with Dual-Core Snapdragons late 2011, first half 2012. I'd say a year or more to develop devices on an all new multi-core platform.
