what a let down TB sucks!

I'm hoping that the specs are not correct and if they are looks like a few more months with my Inc which I love.

No way it has 2.1 when other HTC devices have 2.2. I don't buy it. Until it's released I don't buy anything about it. I'm expecting EVO stats or slightly better.

I will take these specs with a huge grain of salt. The phone will likely be officially announced in the next couple of days, and then we can see whether these specs hold true or not. The fact that we haven't seen spec leaks anywhere else (except for those European ones that were pure fantasy) leads me to believe this is false.

2.1? Impossible. Not having 2.3 is enough for me to think twice about it. Not having 2.2 is unthinkable. That much at least must be wrong. I would also need it to be dual core. And what are "hTC maps and navigation?"

The "maps and navigation" thing also leads me to believe this is false (or just a sloppy error). Also: non-vanilla devices probably won't start dropping with 2.3 for a little while yet (keep in mind that no device but the Nexus S has it so far). Also, I don't think we'll see dual core for a while yet. Yes, there will likely be plenty of dual core devices announced at CES, but they probably won't actually be released until mid-year.

I think that's probably a typo. It's probably supposed to say 2.2.1, not 2.1.2.

MT4g is higher nexus s is higher all samsungs all higher and all not rooted .

samsungs are only higher with the lag fix which all it does it boost the numbers i had a fascinate and the lag fix doubled the quadrant score but you couldnt tell any difference in performance

This phone has way better specs than the EVO - a phone that owners say is still the best 4G phone in America.

That isn't food for thought. This phone doesn't have Way better specs than the EVO. HTC took the EVO, which came out 6 months ago, and put LTE in it, and took the HDMI support away. Does that sound "way better"? Lemme explain to you what is way better.......Better screen..LG and Moto, check. HTC, nope. Better battery, Motorola..check. Htc...nope. Better processor....LG and Motorola, check. HTC...nope. And more RAM...Moto, check. HTC...nope. Tell your friend, nice try, and ask him how he likes his job working for HTC.

Heh, don't worry. I fired back an email to him making similar arguments you made and he shut up ;)

Although he does have a point that, IF the LG and Moto devices come out 6 months after this guy does, that you can't compare the two. Of course a phone that comes out 6 months from now will be better than one released right now. And a better phone will be released 6 months after that one, etc..

But if HTC has been teasing this phone with the tag line "you know your dream phone? it's the one after that", then it better be true.

Either way, I wish tomorrow would just come already and end this madness!

Lol, I concur, but I doubt that we will be waiting for 6 months....but by that argument, the Thunderbolt is 6 months after the Evo, with only LTE, and a removed HDMI support.

Imo it would make more sense for this phone to ship out soon to compete with the Evo and Evo shift, then bring out there flagship 4g phone in the summer. If these are the specs and it's not coming out until summer, i will be disappointed and may end up just getting a droid x. I don't think the phone sucks, i just don't think it's worth waiting until the summer. I really like sense ui but i don't mind giving it up for the droid x. Especially with gingerbread around the corner.

These aren't the specs. Qualcomm just announced a 1.2ghz snapdragon an specifically said Verizon and HTC would be announcing the flagship device at CES. If they were wrong about the CPU who knows what else. Let's wait for the announcement before we judge.

What I suspect is that this blogger tested out the Desire HD, not the Thunderbolt. I seriously don't see how he could have gotten his hands on a Thunderbolt, HTC's been keeping it under wraps pretty well.

I could care less about the specs. My #1 deal breaker is if this thing is binged out or not.

I will only buy Google "droids".

They have since updated the site to say that it is 2.2.1 and not 2.1.2, so that was a typo. But no dual core isn't necessarily a deal breaker. Once people have heard about dual core in a phone they think they can't function without it and for all of their lives they have been living without it so I'm pretty sure this phone will do just fine without dual core. I seriously think that this phone will get updated to 2.3 sometime after the release. It just makes sense.
