What Android Tablets will receive Oreo update?

This is sort of frustrating me
I am deciding between purchasing the Huawei Mediapad T3 8" or the Lenovo TAB 4 8". Both are around £120
But reviews have mentioned that the tablets are unlikely going to receive the new Oreo 8.0 Android update.

I dont want to purchase a tablet that has Nougat, and then it wont even receive the Oreo update in the near future. I dont want it slowing down after a year or so as it wont be getting update.

What tablets will recieve the Oreo Android? I would like one for around the £120 price

I couldn't find much on anyone developing any kind of custom ROM for either device. They may not get any kind of update to 8.0 official or not.

I dont quite understand. Why would a tablet be released with Nougat, but unlikely to recieve future updates? Will my tablets I mentionedbe unusable in the future if it just has nougat?

Am I just being too paranoid in thinking that I buy one of those tablets with Nougat 7.0, and it will just slow down in a year or so? Should I just pay £120 for the tablet? Surely it will be usable even without Oreo later on?

As far as I hear, Huawei isn't really good with updates. The only tablet I'm pretty optimistic of getting an update is the Tab S3.

AFAIK Huawei released a 10 inch tablet recently, so that MIGHT get it.

Ok so I go for the Lenovo Tab 4, which I think was released last year? (Huawei has bloatware anyway..)
Sure the Lenovo is useble with Nougat (7.0 released 2016), but with people saying it is unlikely to recieve updates, that worries me.

What would you say I do? I would like a tablet, that will get Oero, around £120. Or is this impossible?
Are there even tablets that will receive orero or just smartphones?

In all honesty - tablets are low priority for ANY Android manufacturer. Take the Tab S3, a device that costs $600-$700 at list prices, that device JUST received a security update beyond August, 2017. Yeah, a large company like Samsung is stupid slow with even monthly patch releases on a high-end high-cost device. I wouldn't hold my breath about any other company doing better when it comes to full OS updates on a tablet.

Installing a custom ROM would have a much higher chance of getting updated. However, since no one seems to develop for it, it's almost irrelevant. In regards to an OEM updating devices, they need to spend money on doing so (paying software developers the time to do it). With Android tablets not selling very well overall, I doubt this would happen. Like @hallux said, even Samsung is slow with updates. If you want a tablet that will (or at least can be modified to get updated) get a used Nexus tablet. The Pixel is in the same boat as the Nexus, but is really expensive.

I'm inclined to agree, and even then, there is a good possibility of Samsung ignoring the device. If it did get an update, that's probably it.

It's taken six months so far and I can't find any Android tablet that I can be sure of getting Oreo on. If manufacturers take so long to sort these updates out, they must blame themselves for disappointing sales if they don't provide decent support for their products.

@AndroidUK I absolutely agree that the manufacturers only have themselves to blame for this.

The big issue with, for example, Samsung is that the company just has SO MANY devices out there and has done SO MUCH to modify the UI on those devices and they only have so many developers. Priority #1 is to get the OS for the new S9 stable for release in 2-3 weeks. #2 is finalizing the S8/S8+ and Note 8 Oreo releases. Then they have monthly patches to deal with for everything, and they have to decide which lower-cost devices will get the OS update and get those projects done. Phones get priority as those get used more and are higher-volume devices.

Why could Essential do it? They have ONE device to update.
