I don't use any. don't really see a need for it based on my usage. I keep the phone up-to-date, don't use third party stores, and watch where I go and what I do. I think all the apps are scanned as they are downloaded by google so what is there for me to worry about?

IMO, you see a lot of scare tactics used by companies that want you to use their security products. The thing is,technically speaking, it is not viruses you have to worry about, it is malware and those are two completely different issues.

Exactly. And malware has a tendency to sometimes squeak through Google's approval process. That's why I only download apps from well known developers, or through recommendations from others I trust.

On my Sprint SWAC plan, I get free Lookout Security Premium and it comes with a free VPN. It's pretty darn cool. When Sprint wasn't paying for it, I just used the regular Lookout Security. I worked fine. Have never had any issues with malware on any phone I've used.

No I don't use the VZW VPN, just their security check app... scans the phone for issues or viruses... I strictly use Express VPN for that purpose alone.

Anything Verizon related to fixing anything on my phone is a no go for me.

For those of you using a VPN, are you using it to access public wifi? Or you always use a VPN regardless if at home network or public free wifi??

I use CyberGhost on every device I own. Even the TV. I use it it 24/7. If the cell or wireless connection fails or resets, it automatically kills the connection until it reestablished a new protected connection. This is my 4th year in a row with CyberGhost. I've only needed to contact support once.
