What are some common issues with LG G3 and what is it worth now?

If I get an LG G3 for my wife at about $200 (used) is this a good deal?
Also what are some of the issues we should expect, I think LG G2 had that weird stutter that would show up when you scrolled up/down in certain areas, which was mainly due to the skin, but overall phone was pretty snappy. I can only assume LG G3 made it a lot better and improved.

Or should I think about getting Moto G instead?

$200 is a good price if the phone is in very good condition.

It is a great phone. Some will say the battery life is a little on the sub-par level, but if Android is configured well you will not have issues. Five hours of screen-on-time with mixed usage will be the norm. The removable battery option gives this phone an added bonus of doubling that life with an assortments of 6,000 mAH replacements, adding only a small amount of bulk.

It's a terrific phone for $200. One of the best bang-for-buck smartphones that are still very capable.

Very pleased with my LG-G3. I like the double tap turn on feature so much, I would resent going to a phone that doesn't have it. But I suggest staying away from the circle case and the wireless PMA charging. Debris gets inside the circle and eventually you will have an arc scratched on the screen. The PMA charging is not reliable.

Thanks for the replies, I actually really like LG and LG G2 was a really nice solid phone, but I just checked and Moto X (although limited to 16GB) is on sale for $200 so I think $180 for used (condition unknown until received) might be a risky buy. I am not saying Moto X is a superior phone because it is not by any means, but I think wife would prefer a brand new one and that leather back on X is very nice. I wish LG G3 was on sale new for like $250 then I'd definitely get it new. The thing is, after certain amount (over $200) then it starts looking like I could get her an iPhone which she actually wanted for a while but knowing how crappy iPhones get after several iOS updates, I am trying to stay away from that too.

If you are buying used, make sure it does not have the crack on the top near the IR blaster and bottom near the microphone hole. The early batches of phones had this defect and although it was only cosmetic (did not affect the integrity of the phone), it will prove that the phone you're getting is from the newer batches. Specifically ask about this hairline crack.

The Moto X play is also a great phone with a nice battery (although not removable) and has the MicroSD slot for expandable storage and front-facing speakers. The drawbacks are the lower screen resolution (1080p vs 1440p) and it has a Snapdragon 615 which is inferior to the 801 in the G3. Plus, since the G3 has a removable battery, you can put in the 6,000 for insane battery life whenever you want. It's a tough decision but either way, you'll get a very nice phone.

I loved mine at first but now not so much. It just takes forever to do things. Loading apps, taking pictures, loading Web pages. Lag lag lag...screen is gorgeous tho.

Did you reload the firmware or try to downgrade it? Why would this happen?

Thanks everyone who responded. I wasn't the OP but also looking at buying 1 or two of these. Found one on craigslist local for $180. I want to use it on tmobile or possibly AT&T. Are there any differences between the LG D850 — AT&T(U.S.) and the LG D851 — T-Mobile US. Will they both have the bands I need? What about the newer bands Tmobile is using? I've never bought a used phone before so I'm cautious. With a replaceable battery I figure at least if the battery goes bad and won't hold a charge, I can at least replace it.

They both have the bands that works with both networks, you should be OK as long as it is unlocked.

They are all unlocked in the United States.

One minor issue I am having with my LG G3 (AT&T) occurs when I'm using Google Maps for an extended period of time and the GPS positioning becomes erratic for a short time, assumes I am on a different (parallel) road, and the app gives me directions to get back on the main road.
I Googled the issue and could only find some suggestions that it has something to do with the 5.0.1 update.
A few things I've noticed about this issue. So far it only occurs on the second destination. I can go from point A to point B, a long or short trip, with no problem. Then when I arrive and later program to go to point C, along the way the GPS acts up. I wonder if its a memory problem, and from now on, I will clear all open apps and restart Google Maps before I program a new destination.
Has anyone else had this issue?

I loved the LG G2, it was perfect but I wanted a bigger sized screen, so got the LG G3.

BUT... apart from the bigger screen size (5.5 inch compared to 5.2 of the G2) many things are worse:
- The volume/vibrate/silent in Android 5.0 now means the silent also disables the LED notifications - really Google?
- The LED notification isn't very bright when viewed at an angle.
- I'd have prefered the 5.5 inch screen to be 1080P rather than 2K for battery life.

I'm hoping the LG G5 will be good.

Can I ask if it's unlocked? I am thinking of selling mine to upgrade but I wasn't sure what they are going for. It's a great phone, just want to upgrade.

To answer your question, the only "flaw" I have found is that it beeps when the battery is full and continues to beep periodically until you unplug it. However, I posted about it and others did not have this problem so I don't know if it's just my unit. Otherwise, I have had no problems with it.

Mine does that as well. Don't hear it at night since phone is in silent mode, but if using phone as GPS plugged into the car charger, I'll get that occasional beep and reminder to unplug it. It's a concession to the tree huggers, and I'm certainly willing to do my part to save the planet by unplugging my phone as I drive and then trying to plug it back in as the battery drops below a full charge without taking my eyes off the road for too long. I feel very smug about all that extra fuel I'm saving while not loading down my alternator with the extra electrical load caused by my car charger when the phone battery is full.

Considering that the LG G3 will get officially marshmallow... I will stay away from rooting and custom roms. Plus the warranty is affected as well. I am very happy with my LG G3 D851... It has been rock solid. The battery is weak but it makes sense when this phone have a ultra 2k display and 538ppi.

Just won one on eBay for $180 including a wireless charging case and charger. I liked the G3 when I had it last year and am looking forward to having a phone I'm not afraid of breaking like all of these new $800 phones.
