What are the black dots on the bottom right when you send a text message?

When you send a text message, after it gets sent there is a black rectangle with three dark gray dots that appear on the bottom right of the text message for a split second, then disappear. Does anyone know what this indicates?
 
Likely it's a "sending" icon. I'll check my stock sms app.

Yes, that seems to be the case.
 
I think you are referring to a slider. It allows you to scroll through your previous texts faster.

This seems to be more accurate. I tested this with a new conversation so I didn't get the scroll bar so assumed the OP was just seeing things wrong. Sorry OP!
