What are you using for text app on the Note 20?

Google messages and Gboard.

I like that when I get 2FA texts it allows me to copy the number only.

Been using Textra (full paid version) for a few years now and have no complaints. I think it was only like $5 for the full version of it. Not really sure if/how it's any kind of real upgrade over the stock messaging app on the Note 20 though. Haven't really spent any time messing with the stock app to see what kind of improvements and new features it has.

The main feature i like about TEXTRA is the instant send feature by pressing enter. It's a small convenience but i like that feature best. Google messages is great in tracking sending messages but lacks the insta-send feature.

Has Textra done a UI re-design lately or are they still running the same Material Design from when I owned my LG G2 or Nexus 4??

I was a huge Textra fan when I had my LG G2... I forgot if I used it as far back as my Nexus 4. Paid version. But I am so over that Material Design from back then and those colors. My gosh, even Google has left that behind with Messaging.Good features. But too much of an eyesore for me to use.

Tried Google Messaging a couple of times but mainly used Samsungs app on my 8. Will probably stick with stock too. Does all I need.

Those are my go-to now, as well. I used to be a huge fan of Textra but now I like Samsung's and Google's versions of SMS.

Tetra for a long time. Pulse for the last 2 yrs. Signal 2 yrs. Pulse if I don't care who reads it (cough) (google, Samsung, FB or feds) Signal encryption when I need it. Like (cough) ummm brownies recipes?

So I prefer the Samsung messages app for the s pen integration, it also has the gifs and all the other stuff some of you mentioned. If you haven't used it for a while I'd check it out.

Now I just found out Samsung messages does have RCS. It was not available until I downloaded google messages, enabled it, switched back to samsung and it asked me immediately if I wanted to enable it. Screenshot_20200823-173546_Messages.jpeg

What carrier? Are you locked or unlocked?

Google messages because of the RCS and it's one of the best out there besides Textra.

What provider?

I like the Verizon Messages + It is RCS I believe, but two features I really like and use are the scheduled messages as jackispino said, and also you can set it up for auto replies when connected to certain devices. For example when my bluetooth connets to my car, it silences text notifications and sends auto replies to any incoming text messages. If I have Android Auto running, I will still get a notificarion that way, and then I can choose to have Google Assistant read those messages out loud, and even reply via voice...

I happen to be a Verizon customer, but I recently discovered that anyone on any carier can download and use the app from the Play Store. I haven't verified that, but that is one less hurdle if I ever decide to leave Big Red...

I tried to switch to Google Messages, and I did like the app; I just couldn't do the auto replies. I tried to set something up in tasker, but I couldn't get it to switch on automatically when connecting to my car - Having to manually do it is too much trouble, and I forget to do it until I am already driving, and I don't want to stop just to enable the profile...

I don't understand why you guys don't have RCS with Samsung messages. I have had it integrated into my S10+ since I bought it in January. I use stock and love pinning messages and that it theme's with whatever my phone theme is. Little things. My app kept closing and I had to revert to Google messages for a few weeks and it was a terrible experience after using stock Samsung messages app.
