What are your favorite cases for the Galaxy S6?

I'm not saying I'm safer and/or more careful with my phone(s) than anyone else around here ... but what I AM saying is that I hate bulky cases ... and to me, "bulky" is anything other than a super-slim case that barely adds any size to the phone. I prefer to run no case at all, but with this S6 and the camera bump, I feel like I have to so that I can keep pressure/damage off the camera bezel. That's why I run either my "Terrapin Slim-Fit" TPU case, or my "Terrapin Extra-Slim-Fit Hybrid Rubberized Hard Case". Both are protective enough by far for me, but probably not for a lot of you. However, they are very minimal and do everything I want them to.

My biggest issue with most cases is something that's almost non-avoidable ... which is the "lip" that comes over the front side of the phone so that when you lay it face down, the screen is protected. The issue for me is that when I hold the phone to my ear, that lip seems to dig into my ear and bothers me. That's one of the things I love about the Extra-Slim-Fit case I have ... the raised edges are only on the sides of the phone, and top/bottom are "open" so that it's flat/flush, and there's no lip to rub/dig into my ear.

I have dropped phones before with cases like this, and for the most part these cases offer adequate protection - more than you'd think ... and my phones have never suffered any real damage from a drop when wearing a case of this style.

I hear/see a lot of people asking "Would your phone survive an 8-foot drop or more with that case?" ... but honestly, I don't think I've ever been in a situation where my phone would drop from a height of more than a few feet off the ground. It makes me wonder what some of you are doing that puts you in a situation where you're over 8 feet off the ground and are playing with your phone, and might end up dropping it onto some really hard surface that would cause damage to the phone.

Does the spigen scratch the phone on the 6edge like it did on the note 4?

Not particularly subtle. I can't speak for others nor would I but my preference for rugged cases is predicated on the assumption that the sole function is protection of the hardware! both internal and external, from physical drops/physical shock and debris or liquid intrusion to the exent possible. My secondary consideration is extra dimensionality and cost. Finally, when it trade my device in, I want it looking pristine and functioning properly. Bulk is an overly, used and highly subjective description. There are a number of articles and posts from other that corroborate the fact that the Defender is the slimmest iteration to date. If you like rugged cases, you don't have to buy it or necessarily agree. The overarching factor is what works best for, protects the device the best, and doesn't break the bank.

I haven't condemned the use of more protective cases than I prefer, nor have I condemned any one for choosing ANY type of case they want. I simply pointed out in the first three paragraphs of my post that I prefer slim cases, and that in years and years of using slim cases, and dropping phones on hard ground, not one of them has suffered any real damage, most of the time NO damage in any way.

My other points were not even about what you consider bulky vs. what I consider bulky ... I just pointed out what I consider bulky, to ME. On that note, I have seen you mention numerous times how the current Defender case is the "slimmest Defender to date". Well, a person who weighs 500lbs and is slowly losing weight and is now at 350lbs is at their "slimmest weight to date" ... but that doesn't necessarily mean they are "slim", now does it?

The last point I made - or rather, question asked ... was about people implying they want/need a case that will allow them to drop a phone from 8' in the air onto a concrete slab and have the phone not get damaged in any way - externally or internally. While I can respect that level of protection for a device, I was asking about it because I can't picture very many scenarios where you'd be 8' in the air and have your phone out where it may get dropped on a concrete slab.

My above post was not a jab at anyone or anything, nor was it meant to be critical of anyone. Same goes for this post now. If you took it that way, then understand it was not meant to be taken that way. I think you've seen enough of my posts on here to know what kind of attitude I have, and how I try to constantly and consistently be as helpful as I can. No need to interpret these posts of mine in any other way.

Fair point. Just a little wary about being jumped for expressing my opinion.

My preference is driven by personal experience seeing a smartphone tumble and fall onto concrete, not the smooth kind and one tumble down a couple of flights of concrete stairs. In both instances, not a scratch and the internals were protected from the shock of the fall.

I hear ya ... and love that there are so many options for cases. What would suck is only a few options. You like the Defender, I like super-slim cases. We both win.

On that note, I have never really considered dropping my phone while on a flight of stairs - and that would be a GREAT example of where the "8' drop" type scenario might come into play. Not the SAME thing, but having it tumble over and over in all directions could be an issue.

Anyway, I'm going to stick with my cases I like now ... and continue to be as careful as I can, and hope for the best LOL.

Been back and forth on what case I want. Still haven't found the perfect case for me. I want something that is slim but not too slim, has all of the side buttons expose, a case sticks out further than the screen to protect it. So far no luck :(

Also comes in other translucent colors, clear, and some solid color. ONLY problem with this case is, buttons are covered. But, it's a darn good case that pretty much fits your criteria.

Man I'm so jealous I want exactly the colors you have. The red, black, and green. Haha. How much were just the colored shells at the verizon store you went too? I have on the defender right now and love it also I just have a thing for cases. Haha

The TYLT VU chargers in Green are a perfect match for the Citron Green & Black Otterbox Commuter. :p
Got the TYLY View wireless car charger in today and that green is Hott. Maybe I've lost my mind?
I'll see if I can get a picture of the pair up later.

Probably works well with the Defender as well.

Can you tell me if the hard case has a lip around the camera to protect it? It's hard to tell from the pics, but it looks as if it's completely flat at the back?

This very similar case has a lip at the back:
Nillkin Matte Textured Super Shield Hard Case Cover for Samsung Galaxy S6 Black | eBay

Not sure if that means the case itself is thinner than the terrapin and then it needs the lip to protect the camera.

the solid black rubberized case I mentioned above does NOT have a lip around the camera ... and the back of the case is NOT as thick as the camera bezel, but only by maybe 1 mm ... it's SO close to being perfectly flush, it's hard to tell.

Pimpin Neon Green Otterbox Commuter with the Pimpin Green Neon TYLT VU wireless car charger, a match made in Heaven. :p

Have I lost my mind, Yes. ;)

Thanks for the response. That's exactly the information I was looking for.
Might be enough to convince me to go with the Nillkin case with the lip instead. I reckon I'd prefer the finish of the terrapin though and it seems to protect the corners just a tiny bit better...
