What are YOUR impressions of the Pixel 3/3 XL?

Yet the hardware, is among the best in the business. Among the best displays, among the best build materials, among the best build quality, among the best SoC, better than the best camera (granted mostly software), among the best audio... the only thing "lacking" is RAM, which is a thing that is absurdly irrelevant when given the context of how RAM actually works on Linux and Android, when not being malformed by software that tries to make it behave the way that Windows does.

Best SoC is not what I’d say since it’s an almost year old chip at this point and every Android flagship uses it. Now if they could compete with Apple’s A12 chip then we could say something but since Qualcomm has a monopoly on Android the SoC part is moot.

Well, is there a better chip available that they could've put in this device? The 845 is the best that they could've used, right?

3rd version of the Pixel looks good. But have not seen much about its Audio Quality for music; especially through earphone jack.

As long as there are improvements over last year's model then the pixel 3 will be the best android device hands down IMO.

Black Friday's right around the corner (hard to believe) and wondering if there will be any discounts?

Was going to say the same thing. Apparently the 845 is good enough for the Note9, but a month or so later and now it's dog food. I dunno, it sounds like no matter what he wouldn't like these devices.

I didn't say "best SoC"; if you include the two words before it, I said "among the best SOC". And given that it is the 2nd best SoC's available for phones, I'd say that's accurate. And it is the best one that is available to Google, but I would agree that the new Apple silicon is better.

I am not a big notch hater. If I was to buy one I would get the 3 XL but I know not all will share that same thought.

Come back to the dark side!!! Or from the dark side, depending on your point of view...LOL

Overall, I would'nt buy this Phone. way too expensive with Little features that I would use

I stopped at Best Buy today to check out the demo units and I was actually impressed with the Pixel 3 XL. The display looks better than my Note 9's display and it looks better than the iPhone XS Max's display. It's brighter and the colors are punchier. I prefer that. The gestures on the UI were fluid, but I find they were not as fluid as the gestures on the iPhone XS Max. The rear of the phone was nice. It feels like a single piece of glass, but it's a little slippery. Get a case or a skin for sure. The Not Pink color was on display and that's the one I ordered. It was a muted pink, almost like a cream color with a slight pink tint to it. As for the notch...ehhhhhhhh. It's there. But the overall benefits of the device outweighs the negatives of the notch, IMO.

I'm looking forward to next Thursday!

The Naked wraps from SlickWraps are awesome. I have one on my phone and I get people telling me "wow, you are brave for not using a case". Granted, I still am not using a case, but I do have scratch protection at least. And it looks and feels awesome.

Do you recommend gloss or matte

Agreed. I think $749 was the sweet spot for the base model. I'm still a buyer at $799, but I think there are some consumers that will pause and may take a little more time to make the same decision at that price point.

For me yes, I won't be buying a Pixel this time around. I do wonder though if they priced it so high to eventually discount it later. For instance, the Pixel 2 was never discounted and it seemed like every promotion for money off was only for the 2XL. Perhaps at this price point, this will give them some leeway to drop the price of both of them.

Well, the only version I have used is the gloss version and I love it. I use it on a glass-backed phone so I think that combo works well. Also, their website is pretty terrible for showing the differences.

Pro's

Better Camera (not a camera guy).
Specs top rate accept memory. But I question if 6GB is used at all on phones that have it.
Great screen. This is key.
Form Factor. People think it's bland. I go the other way. It's not showy. It's what I want a phone trying to be phone to look like instead of making it look like an art piece like the slippery Galaxies
IP68 rating. I have never dunked my phones. But I want mine to not die the one time it does happen
Front speaker. People can be indifferent to this. But I have have had a Nexus 6 and using a Pixel XL. You can't dissuade me on from how much better front pointing dual speakers sound. No more cupping my hands under the phone trying to amplify that one speaker and trying to get the sound to point back to me.
Wireless charging. People who haven't used it don't really have a good feel for how nice it is. Specially at work where you might be walking away from your desk on several occassions. It's great for always being topped off so if you are in a position where you can't charge (like going to the bar, crashing at a friends, and leaving once the hangover is managable) your phone will last.
OS. The almost clean OS maybe be boring to some who don't customize their phones and use it like an Iphone or a Samsung with their app drawer. But the buttery smooth optimized Android is better than we ever imagined with the Nexus line and exactly what I wanted all along on my Android phones before it.

Cons.
Notch hate the notch. I don't like the ideas of pictures overlaying a dead area.
Price. Phones are getting up there and escalating fast. Haven't confirmed it but apparently there is an Iphone configuration that is $1500? This is getting a bit out of hand quickly. A phone shouldn't cost as much as a gaming laptop. Getting the 3XL 128GB because it's what I need and it's the best a being what I want my phone to be. But they are closing in on pricing themselves out of a customer in me in the future. Realistically I think they highest spec products should top out as a whole at $1k and this should be about a $900 phone not a 1k phone.
Glass back. Personally I like the look, feel, weight, even thickness of my PXL. I want wireless charging though. So this and the notch get a pass. But I will always perfer a nice weighty metal shell over glass and plastic. Even if it was Nokia plastic.

As a whole a great phone and when I found out about the dual speakers my hatred of the notch died down. People can debate what the proper screen layout should look like, But if a chin, notch, and glass back are what Google required to get me those speakers and wireless charging then in my book its a good move.

I think it will change the look of finish no matter which one but think I may try gloss. They 50 percent off right now
