Pro's
Better Camera (not a camera guy).
Specs top rate accept memory. But I question if 6GB is used at all on phones that have it.
Great screen. This is key.
Form Factor. People think it's bland. I go the other way. It's not showy. It's what I want a phone trying to be phone to look like instead of making it look like an art piece like the slippery Galaxies
IP68 rating. I have never dunked my phones. But I want mine to not die the one time it does happen
Front speaker. People can be indifferent to this. But I have have had a Nexus 6 and using a Pixel XL. You can't dissuade me on from how much better front pointing dual speakers sound. No more cupping my hands under the phone trying to amplify that one speaker and trying to get the sound to point back to me.
Wireless charging. People who haven't used it don't really have a good feel for how nice it is. Specially at work where you might be walking away from your desk on several occassions. It's great for always being topped off so if you are in a position where you can't charge (like going to the bar, crashing at a friends, and leaving once the hangover is managable) your phone will last.
OS. The almost clean OS maybe be boring to some who don't customize their phones and use it like an Iphone or a Samsung with their app drawer. But the buttery smooth optimized Android is better than we ever imagined with the Nexus line and exactly what I wanted all along on my Android phones before it.
Cons.
Notch hate the notch. I don't like the ideas of pictures overlaying a dead area.
Price. Phones are getting up there and escalating fast. Haven't confirmed it but apparently there is an Iphone configuration that is $1500? This is getting a bit out of hand quickly. A phone shouldn't cost as much as a gaming laptop. Getting the 3XL 128GB because it's what I need and it's the best a being what I want my phone to be. But they are closing in on pricing themselves out of a customer in me in the future. Realistically I think they highest spec products should top out as a whole at $1k and this should be about a $900 phone not a 1k phone.
Glass back. Personally I like the look, feel, weight, even thickness of my PXL. I want wireless charging though. So this and the notch get a pass. But I will always perfer a nice weighty metal shell over glass and plastic. Even if it was Nokia plastic.
As a whole a great phone and when I found out about the dual speakers my hatred of the notch died down. People can debate what the proper screen layout should look like, But if a chin, notch, and glass back are what Google required to get me those speakers and wireless charging then in my book its a good move.
You're right about wireless charging being convenient, however it's not as big an advantage when you have rapid charging.
I had one of the first phones that had it but a couple of years ago I bought phones without it for various reasons and didn't miss it because of rapid charging. Now I'll have both but I hate glass backed phones. Fortunately the Pixel's back has a matte finish so it at least won't be a fingerprint magnet.
