What can I do to be able to put a password or lock on my phone again?

I forgot my pattern, thankfully I recovered it using the Samsung Find my Phone and unlocked it. But there's another problem after being able to unlock it I can't open or make another pattern or password because it's looking for my fingerprint but when i try to enter my fingerprint it wasn't able to read my finger and says error. Now I'm trying the backup password. But i can't remember the password. Please help me!

Welcome to Android Central! The backup password is very important to remember, because phones will ask for it from time to time, even when the fingerprint sensor is working normally. It's surprising you've been able to use your phone up until now, because it should have been asking for your backup password for extra security every so often (especially upon a cold start).

Can you use Find My Mobile to remotely change your password?

Stock Android asks for it on every cold start.

To the OP - when you do remember or reset the password write it down. If you're afraid someone will use it, stick it into the back of a sock drawer.
