This is exactly my plan, so please let me know how it went for you. I'm in Cedar falls and travel to chicago and minneapolis. I Wireless looks great in IA vs AT&T on ST, but AT&T might be better elsewhere.
Finished my month with iWireless a few weeks ago and switched to AT&T Straight Talk (thankfully bought a microsim before the price sky rocketed due to current supply/demand). The reason I switched is because data speeds where I live and work (Linn County, but not close proximity to Cedar Rapids) were 2G rather than 3G/4G. Cedar Falls (pink = 3g/4g; dark green = 2g) looks pretty good on iWireless coverage map, so your experience may be better!
With AT&T ST, I now have 3G at home and work. Overall coverage isn't as good, but definitely manageable. Data speeds in rural areas seem to be better. Speeds in urban areas are good, but not as fast as they were with iWireless.
