What case are you going to wrap around your Evo 4gLTE?

I just got my Diztronic Matte Back Black Flexible TPU Case from Amazon yesterday, and it fits like a glove. It adds practically nothing to the bulk of the phone.

I used the Otterbox Defender for about two years on my old Evo, and I refuse to carry around another brick in my pocket. Yes it's a good protector, but I cannot give up the sleekness of this new Evo. This Diztronic case might not protect like an Otterbox, but two years worth of training myself to be careful with my phone has allowed me to use a better looking case.

There is no screen protection, I've not decided if I'm going to bother with another zagg or anything else.

I ordered the same case on amazon. Does it have a nice grippy feeling or is it slippery? Thanks.

I got my EVO last night and popped it into the Seidio Surface case. Overall it is pretty awesome, except for 2 things.
  • I have the Seidio Screen Protector and when I slid the case on, it was peeling up the protector. I had to push down on the protector and pull up on the case lip to keep it from peeling.
  • I hook my phone up to my car through a 3.5mm cable and with the case on I can't connect the cable. My options are either get a thinner extension cable that will fit or get the HTC Bluetooth adapter.

Speaking of the Seidio Screen Protector-does anyone know why there is a small cut in the protector? This looks like could cause the protector to peel in the future.

This is not an issue. I found out my cable had a short in it so that's why it sounded horrible.

I purchased the otterbox defender case at Sprint store. I got tired of waiting to hear from Seidio for my convert combo order I placed a week ago. The otter box fits great and seems flawless. Here it is in my BB car dock I bought for OG Evo.

I just got my Otterbox Commuter yesterday and I will go on record of saying that it is a GREAT case.

They always have been. Fits very snug and feels rock solid in your hands. The screen protector is just a regular screen protector, nothing too special, but it gets the job done.

I highly recomment the case! :D

I prefer naked. But since I'm more confident taking pics all day with a case (and I have One X design envy), I ordered this one from Amazon...

It's not like it's slippery, it's just not as grippy as the glossy TPU cases... More surface area (smoother case) = more friction = more grip. Matte cases are rougher, hence less surface area/grip.

OTOH, matte TPU tends to hold up better with time, particularly when you're looking at translucent or smoke cases... I have an S-curve TPU case on my EVO 3D, it's half matte and half glossy; after a year the glossy side looks like ass. The whole case has picked up a sort of amber hue but it's much more noticeable on the glossy side (originally smoke, and it was very grey/black with no hint of this).

Glossy TPU tends to pick up skin oils much more easily as well, it's nowhere near as bad as the lint issue with silicon but they still get grimey after a while... Matte seems much less prone to that. Glossy TPU cases that are translucent also have a habit of showing whatever lint/crud slips thru the case's edge and gets trapped behind the phone, whereas matte hides it better since it's more like frosted glass rather than tinted glass.

Personally I think the matte TPU cases just look better overall, specially in the long run... OTOH they're so cheap on Ebay that it's trivial to replace them. I've been buying US made cases from Diztronic or Cruzerlite simply cause they ship a heck of a lot faster tho.

If you're worried about grip you might wanna take a look at the Cruzerlite cases which have a molded side grip like the old S-curve cases. I ordered a couple, smoke & red, figured I'd use their buy 2 get 1 promo to get a free case for my mother's future One X.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. I ordered the same case and it's due in the mail today. I was initially going to go without a case once I got the phone and marveled over how thin and sexy it is...I didn't want to hide it. However, common sense kicked in and I knew I had to order some type of case. I used a Seidio Surface for my OG EVO and although I was satisfied with it, I wanted something thinner for the LTE.

I'm looking forward to trying the TPU on for size.

I ordered the Otterbox commuter and I agree it's a awesome case.. It's minimal bulk added to the phone... It's actually the same thickness as my original EVO now but still lighter.. Amazed at how thin this phone is and I love the optional screen protector... I never had a screen protector on my original EVO and it only ended up with ONE scratch and it was at the bottom over the menu button..... I usually like to go Naked but this case is great.... I love it...

I've already tried 3 cases for my EVO LTE -- Otterbox Defender, Seidio Surface, and Diztronic Matte Black TPU case.

Although the Defender case has great protection, it was just too bulky for my taste and it didn't fit in the Sprint car dock.
I like how the Seidio and Diztronic case keep my phone looking and feeling slim, but the Seidio case was a bit slippery for me and the Diztronic case had more grip.

So out of the three cases, I'm sticking with the Diztronic case...

I bought a pt case/holster combo from best buy the day I got the phone, but it keeps powering down the phone. The tab for the power button is way to close. I ordered a diztronic tpu case. I'm gonna miss having a holster though.

Is the diztronic case slimmer than the seidio?

Yes, the Diztronic case is a tad slimmer than the Seidio case. Once AC fixes the malware issue on their site, I'll post pics of them side-by-side so you can see the difference.

Edit:

Here's a side-by-side comparison.

FWIW I have to toss in a vote for the Seidio cases! I have been using them for some time now and have never been disappointed.

I got the CONVERT Value Pack and am VERY happy!

First thing is it comes with the usual SURFACE case and Holder. This is my primary case and I frekin love this thing! It is simply awesome and the belt holster is simply great! I have not had any complaints and the one for my first Evo has held up from a LOT of everyday abuse.
That is why I wanted the same for my ELTE. My only complaint is when I am in the car the clip can dig into your side a bit due to the seat belt but I just tuck my shirt a bit in between that and my body and problem solved. This has never felt uncomfortable during normal sitting, only in the car.

This combo pack also includes the Rugged skin and skeleton and another holster that is exactly the same except slightly larger to accommodate the rugged skin. I won't use the rugged skin everyday but I actually really like it. For times when I will use my phone for GeoCaching, or anyplace outdoors really, I will pop it on.

It also came with a Ultimate Screen Guard. I am always hesitant about these as they can be a pain in the arse to apply and they have to feel natural. I have to say I lOVE this guard!
I am picky and want it to be on perfectly aligned and with no dust etc... So I played with it and played with it and got dust on it. The cool thing is this guard uses no adhesive so you can keep playing until you get it on! I just rinsed it under water to remove the dust and put on a lint free paper towel. Then it was back to new. I did this twice and it is fine. So this is the guard to use! It also feels completely natural like there is non on my ELTE at all! You can't even tell it is on it except the little notch that is cut out for the proximity sensor. The fit is PERFECT!

Completely clear and the best guard I have used thus far!

I have the Seidio Screen Protector and when I slid the case on, it was peeling up the protector. I had to push down on the protector and pull up on the case lip to keep it from peeling.

I have the same issue with the Seido screen protector & Surface case. I decided to return both, and purchase a Otterbox Commuter case
