Galaxy s3 to LG G3 to 2 Note 7's to Pixel XL to Note 8. Note 7 was the best phone I ever had up till now but I have to give a shout out to the Lg G3 which I stll use as a household timer, and while it's battery sucks, I used it for three weeks between powering off the Pixel to send in for trade and getting the Note delivered. and it functioned. I went back forth between LG and Samsung for several years.

how did you like the S8 compared to your N8?

The S8 was very nice. Honestly, the only noticeable difference is the Spen. I can tell u it was a nice and unexpected surprise from the S7E. The N8 camera has more features, but the S8 took great pics as well. Had I not been such a huge user of the SPen, I would have had no problem keeping the S8. It's a good device.
