What device did you come from just before getting a Note8?

I am bi-cellular. I started with the iPhone 5, then Note 7 was my first foray on the other side of the wall but I didn't get to spend much time with it obviously, replaced the Note 7 with an iPhone 6s for the last year which is a pretty nice phone overall and it had a great battery life..... and now I am groovin' to the Note 8 playing on the other side again.:D

I'm seeing a few posts of things in the "Things I discovered" thread that were features on the Note5, and presumably the S7 and S8. Curious what phone are people coming from?

I went back to my Note 5 and kinda fell in like with it again, but not love.

It is a great phone and I found a strange attraction to the purely flat non curved screen, perhaps because of my S Pen use. I think it it is a fine phone and will be ready as a back up if ever needed, but it simply doesn't come close to matching the Note 8, in every category

Loving my Black Note 8,

I Win!!!! :D

Galaxy S2 Skyrocket to Note 8. :D

This thing is big, heavy, bright, and fast! I'm lovin' it so far.

My wife and I each got Note 8s and attempted to trade in our lovely S2s, but guess what, the trade-in value was zero. Hah! The sales guy actually checked for us. So we've still got the S2s, and they do a LOT of stuff just fine running stand-alone or especially on WiFi, so it's kind of nice to still have them. Man, those things seem TINY and Light when you pick them up after handling the Note 8 for a few days.

The Note 8 is a fantastic gadget, for sure. I wonder if we'll be able to keep using them as long as we did the S2s.

OMG!!! That is a big jump. I still have my S2 Skyrocket but stopped using it long ago. It still works too.

came from iPhone 6+ to note 7 pre order then exchanged for "safe note7" had to return that but couldn't go back to Apple so got s7edge. great phone but got note8 now. kept 7edge for backup."just in case" 😁 wasted a lot of years with Apple. never again tho.

You both used the S2 Skyrockets this long? How did you manage? Did you root them?

I've had a lot of Samsung. The original Galaxy S Epic 4g, SIII, S5, S6, Note5, and finally the Note8.

My girlfriend and I are still using are Note 5 , however she got a good deal from t mobile yesterday and ordered her Note 8 . Before she gets it we ordered a UAG Case and tempered glass and I will be right behind her !

I don't jump phones much since I find it expensive and unnecessary. Droid Razr > Nexus 5 > Galaxy S6 > Note 8 :)

We didn't root them. We just used them stock.

I did update the OS at least once, and I put new batteries in both of them about a year ago. But other than that, they were pretty much the same old units.

I think the thing that allowed us both to use them for so long was that we both used some tablets over the years that connected to our WiFi at home, and for me, also at work. So most of the web-surfing, etc., was done with our tablets.

Whenever I tried opening a web page, unless it was very simple, on the S2, it would virtually lock the phone up, requiring a hard-reset/power-down and back up. So I just got to where I almost never attempted to look anything up or do that sort of thing from the phone.

The S2 did my email, texting, took good photos, kept notes, worked fine with netflix and hulu, and all of that just fine. But surfing the web was downright painful!

These Note 8s are amazing, though. Very fast and responsive, even when surfing over the cell phone data system. The camera is nicer than that in the S2, as well, but I must say that I got a lot of good utility out of the S2's camera over the years. I often used it to capture/copy documents and to take photos of gizmos I was taking apart so I could refer to those photos when reassembling or rewiring things. And of course, the obligatory cat photos, too!

But these Note 8s are a huge step up, that's for darned sure!

It was my wife's birthday, and I asked her if she'd like a new phone. She said she'd LOVE one. So we went to the local AT&T store, and came out with two Note 8s. (I had to have one, too, of course!)

We're loving them a LOT.

That is pretty incredible :D I left my S2 for an S3 in 2012, but I do still turn it on now and again, still seems to run fine, but yeah the moment you start trying to browse large pages, things get a little bit errrrmmm.... Hairy.

Hope you and your wife and enjoy the Note8s and get many years of usage out of them. With 6GB RAM, Dual cameras and 18:9 Display ratio, these babies are pretty future proof. I highly doubt we will see much of a jump especially in RAM anytime soon in mobile. Most manufacturers will probably stick to 4GB RAM on most of their phones and put 6GB in their top end offerings.

Note 2 > Note 4 > Note 8 a week ago today. Loving it so far! Following my upgrade path, I'm pretty sure I won't be waiting until the Note 16 to upgrade but will most likely have the Note 8 for 2 - 3 years if I can get the battery to last that long- not expecting it to make it that far, though.

I had the S7 Edge. I, too, was a casualty of the Note 7 recall... *tear* I held onto it as long as I could, until the OTA update that stopped it from charging, LOL. But I am ecstatic to have the Note 8, I love it so far.
