I wonder when will gingerbread will be available to all carriers?
thanks i'm just new to the whole android thing, i moved over from palm and can't get enough and the new update looks awesome
i would think that youll get it for sure. i think any phone that got (or is getting, in the case of the galaxy s phones) froyo, with the possible exception of the OG droid, should get 2.3 as well. pure speculation on my part though, so take that for what it is worth
Some Verizon rep today told me that the Incredible was going to to get the update next month. Sounds like crazy talk to me, but can anyone corroborate this?
Personally I think that VZW rep was full of shat, verizon is notorious for delaying OTA's for months at a time. And if there was an OTA coming soon even with in a couple O months good ol AC would had a story on it.Some Verizon rep today told me that the Incredible was going to to get the update next month. The OG Droid not getting it would just be a lazyness on Motorola's part. The device can and does run Gingerbread, and runs it really really well.
I have it running Gingerbread, OC'd to 800Mhz and I don't notice any difference in speed from my DX.. It's super snappy.
But, since this device is easily hackable and super popular still, I forsee it getting aftermarket updates until it's just physically not possible due to size, ram limitations or some other requirement.
So, I would say to anyone who has the OG Droid, don't give up hope.. it'll continue getting non-official updates.
This makes me happy. I still have my droid1 from the first week it was released. I've been afraid of bricking it, so its still unrooted. Now that I've got my upgrade I'm not so scared of bricking. I hope rooting and running some ROM or other will freshen this thing up enough for me to be able to wait for a phone I really want (like atrix for vzw or bionic w/keyboard).
*edit
At this point, motorola should just give droid1 an ota root. The only people still using them are the ones that will root it anyway.

Did you run a Gingerbread ROM on your phone or something? I have Moto Droid 2, do you think I could run it?
