What do you NOT like about your Nexus 5X?

Got mine today, a few issues so far. While streming Tunein radio with headphones in, I was unable to turn the screen back on by either using the power or finger print scanner. The speaker quality is almost unusuable as the volume is way too low on high. This is either using just the speaker or with the headphones.

The camera also takes way too long to process the photo after you take it. I know its just the first day but the battery drained from 100 to 14 percent in just a few hours of streaming Tunein. Screen on time was just barely over an hour. Hopefully it gets better in next few days.

The screen wakes up again with the fingerprint scanner on mine while using tunein. Have you got two step wake up set up?

I've noticed the camera can sometimes be lightening fast but today I took a couple of pictures of my son and it didn't seem to register my touching the shoot button...

Damn, don't read this thread if, like me, you're considering a 5X. Sheesh!

I've had my 5X since the 20th and here are some of my gripes. My comparison of the N5X is to my older N5 which I have sold and to my current phones, Galaxy S6E and Note 4.

1. It isn't as easy as before to one-hand the phone due to its increased width and tallness, coming from the Nexus 5. However, I'll adjust to it.

2. The camera launches slow and so is the shutter speed, compared to the N4 and S6E. I'm sure future updates will make these better, just like updates drastically improved the old Nexus 5's camera.

3. The speaker isn't very loud but still serviceable.

4. For the first few days, unplugging the Type C cable was scary and annoying due to its tightness and stubbornness. It has been getting better daily.

As you can tell, these are all minor gripes. I like the N5X better than the old N5 and I'm glad I upgraded to it.

Anyone have the phone on At&t? If so does it support VoLTE?

Great images when it works but the camera is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!

I agree. It's really starting to frustrate me. I've tried a bunch of camera apps on the play store but didn't like any. Plus they had an issue where the camera wasnt rotating right in app

Is it a issue with HDR?

Yeah, HDR is slow. Sometimes I hit the shutter button and it takes a second or more to actually take the pic. And multiple HDR in a row is out of the question. Non-HDR mode is quicker but still slows after a while. To be fair, I have a 3 week old little girl, so I take a lot of pictures. My GS6 and wife's iPhone 6 are super fast. Pic quality is great with 5x, though.

See that's my biggest absolute must have feature is a great reliable camera because of my toddler and newborn. The camera you have on you is better than the camera you left at home so I don't want to get rid of my Note 5 if the camera is this slow.

I agree. I have the 6p coming this week and I hear the camera app operates quicker on it due to faster processor, etc. We'll see! If not, it might be back to GS6 unless Google releases an update before my 14 days are up.

This is Day 5 with my new handset. I've been overall very happy with it. Today I was outside most of the day. The display performed OK in daylight, not great but OK. As an experiment, I tried dialing down the screen brightness to the minimum setting . . . and I couldn't see the display . . . at all. If I swiped down, I could just see the grey notification box, but that's it. It took me several minutes of swiping to find the brightness slider and get the screen back. This partly due to the dark menus. Were they a lighter color; I expect it would be easier to see. (N.B. I have adaptive brightness turned off).

I think I'll wait for Marshmallow updates to come out and more apps to be updated before I give much consideration to this thread. Believe me there will be some great updates coming just like lollipop which killed my battery so fast at first and messed my phone up for a little bit but another update fixed back to normal now my N4 is as great as ever!!

The only thing I have to say I dislike about the phone is the auto adjust brightness setting. It is terrible. It drops the brightness of the screen to poor levels. When compared to my 2014 Moto X next to it, with the same settings turned on, it is night and day between the phones. I hope this gets adjusted in the future.

I am coming from a Nexus 5 which was (and still is) my favorite phone of all time. The things I don't like about the 5X are...

1. The haptic feedback on the keyboard makes a high-pitched buzzing sound instead of a nice, subtle vibration;
2. The Nexus logo on the back of the phone is just painted and looks cheap compared to the nice engraved logo on the 5;
3. The screen is ever so slightly warmer (in color) on the left side;
4. I actually prefer only four icons per row on the home screen as opposed to the five found on the 5X.

The 5X is a very nice phone, but other than the camera and the fingerprint sensor, I still prefer my good old Nexus 5...

Pretty good (bad) list.

The haptic feedback chirp/beep drives me crazy. I find it annoying, distracting, and it sounds/feels cheap.

I've finally grown accustomed to the 5x5 grid, but I still prefer the more "comfortable" feel of 4x5 on the N5. I'd guess that the 5X's pixel density is set higher than the 5. That would also account for things appearing smaller on the 5X.

All in all, I really wish I could just slap a better camera on the Nexus 5.

  • fingerprint sensor on back, can't use it while its just sitting on the desk and you want to quickly unlock the phone.
  • fingerprint sensor rarely works while charging with the included charger
  • Camera is slow
  • volume rocker position, must adjust grip to adjust volume
  • vibration seems overly loud
  • phone feels hollow
  • lack of qi charging

Power button takes a bit too much pressure to push.

Funny, I keep thinking the button is too easy to push. Feels a little loose for my liking.

I also do NOT like the placement of it, as I keep hitting it simply by picking up the phone.
