Awwww cmon, I was hoping to see more responses to this thread..... these two were really good, any more? What about good sites tested on the xoom that stream SD TV shows or movies paid or free? Something less main stream then hulu, possibly less legal?

PlayOn TV works okay. They're working to optimize for tablets, but it allows Netflix and Hulu streaming. There's a 14-day trial, and it's $5/month, $40/year for the first year and $20/year thereafter, or $79 lifetime or somesuch.

Since it allows Hulu streaming without needing a Hulu+ subscription, the price is actually decent enough. It does require a Windows PC to do the serving, but it will work over wifi and 3G.

Flash 10.2 is just all around a nice way to view all of the internet without any hiccups.

For example if you're cruising a social network site and a friend posts a video from Vimeo or Youtube even... before you couldn't watch them at all. Now they load in seconds within the browser and run great.

I think there's probably a lot that people over look and just assuming it's for playing video games or streaming amazon flicks etc.

A lot of it is used without even knowing. If you want to see what all requires flash in a browser, go into the settings in the browser and set the addons to on demand. That way you see a green down arrow that you click when you want to load that flash content.

Might be a way just to see how much is actually using flash online.

Overall though again, I think it's just allowing users to view the internet to it's full capacity more than a huge 'LOOK I HAZ FLASH!' type of gimmick.

Netflix uses Silverlight plug-in so aside from a RDP program or Playon will simply have to wait for the app. I think I ran across a thread on this site talking about getting Hulu on the Xoom via a few tweaks to the user settings. If I can find it I'll update with a link.

It would be neat if there was an option to set Flash on demand for 3G/4G connections only.

Are you saying PlayOn works for you? It works for me using the PC, but not using the Xoom. Basically, I get a blank screen and no video image. It'll sit there forever, sometimes showing an image after a couple of minutes, sometimes never...

I haven't tried it but if you set the uastring to desktop in the about: debug wouldn't that convince the hulu servers that it isn't a mobile device and give you full access that you would have sitting at any desktop.

Playon works great for me from my Xoom. One thing that helps is to go to the site from your browser. PlayOn I just watched a tv show at starbucks. When I travel I hook the HDMI to TV and all still works great. Also when you click on the channel you want to watch, it gives a description but no video, just click above the description and it will play in full screen.
