What happened?

Just got the moto 360 for Father's day. Very excited about the new watch. Paired with my moto x with no problem.

Started using it yesterday at 2pm and with constant use it lasted until 11pm without a problem.

Today I hardly used it because I'm bus at work. Took it off the charger at 8 and by 11am (with very light use) it's down to 10 percent.

I downloaded some custom cases from the play store but am currently using the stock "minimal" face. I have the brightness on auto and the ambient light sensor on. The watch turns off when it's by my side.

Clearly, this isn't normal battery drain as the issue didn't occur the first day. Not sure why this happened.

Thanks for any suggestions.

by cases you mean faces? Certainly those do cause an issue but the stock don't normally.

I have found that if I am really active I have to switch it to theater mode because my constant movement will activate the screen and that will drain the battery. I found this for driving too so often if I have longer trips I put my watch in theater mode while I am driving.

Also if I have long sleeves sometimes I can trigger the screen on which drains the battery.

Was it downloading the new firmware update during that time? A new version of the Android wear firmware was recently pushed out to 360s and those really annihilate the battery life. Luckily the severe battery drain is only while downloading and installing the update and it should go back to normal afterwards.

Thank you for the responses!

I did mean "faces" and not "cases". I'm using the stock minimal face for work and a downloaded Mickey Mouse face for home. :)

I had already downloaded the newest update so that wasn't the problem.

I wanted to show off the watch at work so I went to my local AT&T store at 2pm and got it up to 45 percent. It then lasted until 9pm with regular use. About what I expected when I got it.

Today I left home at 8am and it's at 51 percent at 1:30. Again, Normal expected results.

All I can think of is I was in an area yesterday for three hours with a weak signal and bad WiFi. Maybe the watch was continuously trying to connect to my phone?

I bet that is it. Mine too.

I have a second charger at work that i use to top off my watch. Next gen watch models need to have much larger batteries!!

Ambient on will decimate battery life. It doesn't matter that it is off by your side, it will wake on its own a lot and stay on a LOT longer as you move around. I don't recommend people use ambient- you gain little and can potentially lose a lot (of battery). That feature was really designed for watches with LED displays, not LCD (like the 360).

If you have to charge the watch in the middle of the day, something is wrong. Either it was a recent update (that hasn't settled yet), the settings are too aggressive (turn off ambient, turn off wifi, turn off tilt-to-wake), your signal to the phone is weak or inconsistent, you use it a LOT (screen on-time), or there is something just broken (bad app and/or face, bad update). If rebooting both doesn't fix, then: http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-360/471939-what-do-when-360-misbehaves.html

Oh I totally agree. I just haven't had the time to sit down for an hour and tweak the heck out of the watch. Also, I shouldn't have to turn off everything including WiFi! I mean, what's the point?? If I have to turn off every feature on the watch to make it through the day then Moto has failed.

I do believe in the bad watch face theory! I had posted on that on a few threads!

My day yesterday started off with losing 20% in about 45 minutes. All I did was remove it from the charger and ride my motorcycle to work. After charging it at work, finally got it to 100% and it was fine the rest of the day. Must have been something hanging randomly. Seems good to go today.

I use received a Moto 360 as well and I have noticed that my S6 is significantly sluggish since installing the Android Wear and Moto Connect apps.

It's really bad at times, and the back of the phone right around the Samsung letters becomes extremely hot.

I'm usually not one to complain about sluggish performance but when the Messages app takes 5-10 seconds to simply load or allow me to create a new message, I take notice!

And all this started since I installed these two Moto 360 apps.. So I'm wondering what could be causing it....

This happened to me again today. Took the watch off the charger roughly an hour ago, didn't take cinema mode off, rode my motorcycle to work, just checked my battery when turning off cinema mode and 60% left!!!!! Android Wear had taken 34% in about an hour. Luckily I have a charger at my desk. I would initially think it had something to do with cinema mode, but, I used it on a long ride on Sunday and it saved me battery life. No idea what's happening. Almost like there's a leak somewhere.

I turned of cloud sync in the android wear app and turned off wifi on the watch and that drastically improved my battery life. Do that!

The problem has not duplicated itself after the first day. I've been getting home at 7pm with 25 percent battery life, which is with moderate use starting at 8am. About what I expected.

I have turned WiFi off so that might have helped.

Love this watch.
