What happens to your music on itunes when you transfer it to Google Play?

The main reason I haven't switched to Android is because I can't seem to find the answer to this question. What happens to your itunes music? Is its still there on itunes? Gone forever? How does it work? I have searched and searched but can't seem to find an answer strangely...

If you're wondering why this is important to me, it's because my family shares an itunes account. So obviously they wouldn't be too happy if all their music was suddenly gone forever lol. Oh and sorry if this is a bad place to post this, I just joined here the questions forum seemed dead.

Nothing happens to your iTunes library. Google music just syncs with your iTunes.
