What happens when I remove Google account from Android?

I want to remove a Google account from my Android phone. I understand that any apps, etc. that are linked to this account with lose that information synced with that account. But does this include text messages? Or are those messages saved directly to the phone? Thanks so much!

Google never let you to remove Google account. It requires at least 1 account to run the phone. You can't remove Google account until added a new one.

Not true, you can't sync or download apps from the Play Store without a Google account, but you do not have to have one signed in to the device for the device to operate.
