What Have I Done to My Text Messengers?

OK, I qualify for senior citizens discounts at Hardee's, ok? I have chosen Textra as my texting app. Everybody told me I had to get the FB messaging app. I did. But today every text I get is putting a purple FB message notification on my home screen. I then just just drag it down to the "X" and get rid of it. Do I need to remove the FB message app? Did i make a boo-boo and swipe the wrong key?

FB - the app itself, the messenger app, anything associated with them, seems to be examples of how to not write software. I had FB on my phone for about an hour before I uninstalled it - I don't need to socialize with (mostly) the younger (I'm 74) set that badly.

Go into the Messenger app, into account settings (last icon to the right on the top row of icons). Under "SMS" turn everything off. You should be good to go.
