What, if anything, will make you pass on the Galaxy Nexus?

One other thing. It has to be a Nexus Prime not a Droid Prime or whatever. Nexus.

You can't be serious with this bet? Verizon themselves announced they would be getting the Nexus Prime after they announced they were going to pass up on the Samsung Galaxy S II. They said they passed up on the Galaxy S II because they didn't believe it would be competitive with the iPhone 5 when it was released. So they chose to get initial exclusive rights to the Nexus Prime instead. Google it if you didn't read that article a couple months ago.

Not so great battery life, no lead notification, poor camera.
Hoping none of those would be a problem.

On a side note here, I'm amazed at how many people still think this device is going to be called the Droid Prime.

It's not going to be called the Droid Prime. All rumors point to Samsung Galaxy Nexus. There's a slim chance of it being called the Nexus Prime, but nothing to point that it will be called the Droid Prime.

I had to say it.

If it doesn't hit AT&T and have LTE, I'll be passing. And at this point, I don't think it will.

Probably looking to get the HTC Holiday or LG P930 if it has comparable specs & screen size of 4.5" or larger. Both will supposedly be AT&T phones with LTE (which my area has).
I'm with you. The only reason I'm even still with AT&T is because I'm grandfathered in with unlimited everything. This needs to be virtually future proof.

Yea, and they also announced the HTC Merge. Still waiting for that one to be released on vzw. Rumors are Rumors not facts. Facts are that there's no EVIDENCE of a CDMA nexus phone going through FCC. And knowing Verizon there never will be. They bloat all their phones. That's fact too.

the Merge was released, you can buy it right now.

Number two is that I am wondering how the curved phone will fit in an arm band if I am walking or at the gym. I use the arm band so that bluetooth headphones don't drop out.[/QUOTE]

Good point. Hadn't thought of that. I use my phone for music when I run. The curved form does seem like it would be awkward in some less obvious ways.

Needs to come to Verizon, be 4G LTE, hold a charge longer than my Thunderbolt, and I would prefer it to have a notification light.

I can't wait until it drops as the Nexus Prime or Galaxy Nexus and you can't post anymore. Especially since the device number that passed through WiFi/BT certification clearly fit into the VZW line. Fail on your part.

I think its also a hit considering the same guy who leaked the Galaxy Nexus wallpapers/boot animation also leaked an .APK listing with verizon tether apps listed. That kind of locked it in for me.

But back to the thread subject.

If this phone has a sealed battery with marginal battery life this could be a breaker for me. I can handle ok battery life with a spare on tap, but not without.
Come to think of it, Im not even sure i could live without a spare battery option period since i have not had too in 7 years. But ill probably still try since this phone looks/sounds so killer.

What would make me pass? If the specs are close to what has been leaked, nada. I've only owned samsung smartphones, so I am pretty much a fanboy. They can do no wrong in my eyes.
Geez I just got my charge 4 months ago. I must be sick.

A combination of build quality and battery life are my primary concerns. Second would be if the phone and/or ICS is buggy as all hell (granted direct updates from Google would negate this one). Third is if I can't get past the software buttons in ICS. Lastly would be if I end up liking the Moto Spyder/Droid HD/Razr more than the Nexus Prime. The whole Kevlar thing seriously has me curious about the Spyder.

Thankfully my OG Droid is still kicking and my upgrade can sit and collect dust for all I care. I just want a descent phone to come out on Verizon that will last just as long without turning into a big POS or a fancy paper weight.

I am not passing on this phone. But if I were going to pass it would be because of battery life, but after seeing Pandas post I am not worried at all.

I've sadly decided to pass on the Prime, and to a greater extent Android, altogether. I absolutely HATE the ICS UI and the direction Google is moving in with regards to Android's UI. I hate the futuristic Tron look. I hate the ICS icons. I was just really let down and somewhat disgusted when I saw the rumored Prime video and screenshots. I know I'm in the minority but that's the choice I make. Now I do know that video was not official so things could change between the time it was made and now, so I will at least watch the official announcement. But I just like the current UI so much better.

I have an upgrade sitting around with 4 more coming early next year, so for now I've ordered an iFail 4S as it's my only logical upgrade path at the present. I'm hoping Google realizes the Tron UI is a mistake and moves away from it by the time Jelly Bean, Kit Kat, or Licorice comes around :D

We're all different and these things are subjective. I personally love the ui direction but i liked the sleek look of Honeycomb as well.

Yea you're right for sure. See I also don't like the Honeycomb UI much either. But I do understand that Google has to really try to differentiate themselves from iOS UI to avoid lawsuits. I just wish the UI could look closer to where it's at now.

Definitely hold off. I've been using Honeycomb on a Google device since march and there are still plenty of bugs.

On that note Android on phones is a much larger market then tablets so I'd hope Google will put a bit more work into it. Also maybe I'm still dealing with Honeycomb bugs because the next update is Ice cream sandwich.

Overall I'm not that impressed with the quality of Google's update releases. Manufactures aside from GED might not get you updates as fast but they are a lot more thoroughly bug tested and tweaked. That in combination with how slow Google updates means everyone else has to wait an additional month but I have to deal with half functioning software for....ever.

It took Motorola about 2 - 3 months to roll out Honeycomb 3.1 outside the USA. It is less buggy and offers more device functionality then Google's 3.2. So TECHNICALLY I'm the one waiting for updates, people without Google updates have a complete OS while I'm waiting for 3.3 or ICS.
