What is LG doing?

I've looked in Best Buy and T-Mobile and LG doesn't even have production devices in stores yet. I remember the Samsung Note 8 announcement and just a few days later, the Note 8 was ready to be seen, felt, and interacted with. I'm really at odds with LG yet again after last year with the V20 and how they are going about business. I'm seriously starting to consider leaving them altogether because I really don't have a lot of confidence if they're willing to make the same mistakes over and over again. Look at any post from LG on Instagram and people are literally begging LG for the same details: release date and pricing and no one can offer any answers besides sign up for more information. Are they really serious. The Note 8 is here. The iPhone 8/Plus are here. The V30 is nowhere to be found except on Youtube for all the cool people who get to play around with pre-production units. This is clearly their best flagship offering with the fewest compromises compared to the competition and they have nothing for the people who want to buy it. It just feels like immaturity on their part especially when there is visible demand for your product. So close to moving on to another manufacturer who knows how to not just announce a product but actually answer the questions AND sell said product. I'm going to wait a little longer before I decide to skip the V30 and make the V20 my last LG device unless LG can grow up and take that next step.

I'm patiently waiting, but I wish they'd break it out this week. Anyone know if both variants (64 & 128gb)are supposed to come to the states? Although with expandable storage, I guess it really doesn't matter. I looked at the galaxy S8 yesterday, and it is a fantastic device. My heart is staying with the V30 though, because of the quad dac, and mqa. Also, I'm changing over to T-Mobile and want to be able to access the new 600mhz spectrum.

I do see what you're saying OP, especially with regards to advertising. LG is a substantial company and they certainly have the revenue to boost their advertising and give the public more of what they're seeking (is, test units, etc). LG makes good profit off of their appliance lines and entertainment systems and so I think they can afford to showcase their mobile line a bit more. :) I really think LG is a great smartphone player and it would be really nice to see more LG advertising in a world of Samsung and Apple marketing.

From reading some comments and LG's willingness to keep telling would be buyers to hold on just a little longer, I believe LG's partnership with Google for the Pixel 2 XL is the real reason why they haven't released the V30 yet. There has to be some legal ties in there somewhere cause it really makes no sense for them not to provide a valid reason for the delay. HOWEVER, they did the same thing with the V20 last year and HTC was the one making the Pixel/XL so anything is possible at this point.

LG does this all of the time so it seems the reasons can't be determined.

I agree Mike, I have not been able to figure out LG's thought process on their products and how they take them to market. I do think it was wise to announce the product before the Note 8, iPhone 8 and Pixels ship. At least people know a new phone is coming and they might get some willing to wait and compare the phones.

Just curious why you went with active since it's quite a bit more than the S8. If you were keeping it for what it can do I would get it, but you're thinking of the V30 which is closer to an S8.

I went with the Active because I got it off eBay for $600 and I liked the S8+ I had, but didn't like the curved glass. Plus the 4000mAh battery is going to be sweet. The reason I was considering the V30 is because I really liked the G6 I had. It was probably my favorite phone I've had this year and the V30 should be even better. At $800 though, I can't justify buying it right now, so I'll wait a month or two when it drops price because it's arriving late to the party like usual. Then I'll compare it to the Active and see if I want to ditch it and go with the V30 or not.

I'll be honest I'm not a fan of how LG handles their other phones. OEMs need to
1. Ensure their phones are sufficiently stocked before launch

2. Do not I repeat do not do any regional features, every phone is the same regardless of where you buy it. (I'm concerned that Canada won't get the high quality DAC)

Got it....I knew there had to be a reason.

As someone who lives in Canada as well, I sometimes find myself worrying that we as a region won't get this or that; so I definitely agree with you on this.

Is that common that Canada get's different hardware versions of phones than the US?

I find it hard to believe they'd make a special dumbed down Canadian phone
.
I'm familiar with regional versions of phones e.g. Asia, North America, but Canadian specific?

If that is the case it could be your lack of choice of carriers. As I understand it you guy pay more for less up there?

If the T-Mobile/Sprint merger goes through than we will have only three big carriers as well. Prices will likely rise as features fall.

Generally we get similar stuff i.e. for Samsung's we get the Snapdragon processors. But I'm talking moreso worldwide. Say what you will about apple but their iPhones are consistent worldwide. An iPhone bought in China has the same features and goodies that an iPhone in the states has.

I can't speak for us always having differing features, but it's true that we do pay more for less (at least in my opinion, haha!). And I think the carrier thing is also an issue. Sometimes, only specific carriers will get a device (ie, Telus with the Essential Phone); so choice is restricted in that respect. Also, I'd say Canada has a shorter amount of "big" carriers, as you mentioned. We have a few smaller ones but the main ones certainly charge a lot!

I hear LG is not playing their stupid regional games with the V30. Hopefully they learned their lesson with the G6.

I know several people (including myself) who would have bought one if they had released the Asian features in NA. I would have bought one for my daughter but she wanted a phone with 64 GB of storage. My co-worker bought a Mate 9 and he is an LG fan. Same story, we keep our phones for at least two years he wanted enough internal storage to last for awhile.

I tweeted to LG Canada to ask if they will be giving us the 2nd year warranty and got no response. So I think we will get screwed out of the 2 year warranty, and I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get a high quality earbud set or any promo items like the Daydream headset, etc.

If by high quality DAC you mean the B&O version don't sweat it. The standard Quad will light you up if you have a decent set of cans. Old music becomes new again.

What do people buy who live on or near the border?

NOOOOOOOO that was one of my reasons for potentially going back to LG!!!!
