what is the best glass protector to use with the Galaxy note 8

Tried the Smash-It glass protector. Not good. Demanded my money back.

Went back to film and I will stay with it. It looks so good, that the dude at the T-Mobile store I was in today looked at my N8 and said - Wow, what do you have on there. He has glass on his N8. Side by side - no comparison - that was the consensus.

$8 :)

Granted, film is not as good with the stylus, but actually, it's pretty nice.

Billy which one are you using? I found that the gray screen s pen tip works nice on the none glass protector

Skinomi

Also just ordered some Pleson protectors - same price - just to try a different brand and to have a couple as a backup.

Orange peel is minimal, stylus works nice but not as nice as glass, the sides stay down, no bubbles if done right. Besides the $8 (for 2) price, one other plus for film is that that you can't see it - like at all - especially compared to glass. You can see a glass protector on an N8 from a few feet away. It looks like a piece of glass sitting on the top of the screen! The film is much less noticeable.

I gave up on glass on my N5 and moved directly to film, and for the short time I had my N7 I learned my lesson and only used film. Looks like I am back on that train.

I am still using the smash-it a week later and happy enough with it, however, it does seem that you need to get the installation 100% perfect which is not easy

I am experienced with installation of protectors, all types, on a range of phones over many years now. I am the one in the family everyone comes to, so it's not just my phones that I do installations on, but many other's phones as well.

I installed and re-installed the Smash-It and could never get the rainbow effect to be completely gone. Touch sensitivity was OK in the main part of the screen, and bad at the corners and sides. Hey it makes sense, it's lifted up off the screen in those areas, right. Then I started getting the clicking noise with the stylus, as the protector pushes down on the screen. Ugh... This was such a step backward from film.

IMO, the edge adhesive-type glass protectors can only be so good. I didn't have it on long enough to get to the other issues users have, like the protector falling off and it collecting copious fuzz/debris along the adhesive edges. It's just not a good design, again, IMO.

One good thing, Smash-It was agreeable to a full refund! That was good!

As I've posted elsewhere, for me, for now, film is an elegant solution. When a glass product that is affordable, and actually works for the majority of users (evidence would be high ratings on Amazon like many film products get) I'll be all-in on that. Until then, I am sticking (no pun) with film.

On my 2nd Whitestome Dome that after 3 weeks of use mysteriously develops cracks running horizontally across the screen. This phone has never been dropped and the cracks appear in different places.

I couldn't stand that very same Skinomi after a week and ripped it off my phone. I'm very experienced at installing all kinds of screen protectors like you are and the install went fine but I couldn't stand the orange peel and all the tracks (permanent) that my S-Pen left on it. That and the horrible drag with the S-Pen, using either color tip. Glad you like your Skinomi.

the Vigeer that I put on today you wont notice really, the full coverage wont work with most cases I don't think though

I like the Skinomi b/c for me, it's the best of the lot so far. The orange peel is minimal, the stylus feel on the surface is not as good as glass but it's OK, and the film self-repairs. Sure, it's not tops on every front, but I've yet to see a product that is.

The fact that it's virtually invisible, it's affordable, it works OK with the pen, works great with the fingertip, stays down on the curves 100%, doesn't have any transparency issues whatsoever, and poses little/no installation issues for most buyers earning top ratings on Amazon, all together add-up to the best solution for me, to date.

I come back here often to find the new "best" solution, and will definitely move to something else as soon as I find a product that better meets the criteria above.

I've had THIS Note 8 for just about a month, and I've gone through 3 different protectors so far:

One cheapie, which I got right away and hated anyway (edge-only adhesive, and bad fit), but that was just to protect my newly-replaced 8 until I could receive the Whitestone.

The Whitestone Dome looked GREAT right after application, but got a chip in the left edge within a week, and that quickly became a crack across the entire protector. Since Whitestone has NO notion of a warranty, I wasn't about to spring for the $39 "refill kit" to replace the protector.

So, I ambled down and picked up the ZAGG glass protector, because at least they will replace it for the life of the phone. I swear to you, it had an identical chip to the Whitestone within 48 hours of application, and now has a similar cross-screen crack. And, to boot, this protector only adheres at the edges, which leaves an airgap, causing slight degradation in responsiveness and accuracy, but MORE important to me, the airgap introduces a reflectivity problem that causes the screen to be lighter than the surrounding bezel, even when the screen is off. This defeats the whole inky-black cant-see-the-bezel Darth-Vader look that I loved so much in the phone to begin with.

In summary, I've tried the worst recommended and the best recommended, and basically they all come up short. I love this phone, y'all, but protecting it is driving me nutso.

I'm waiting for someone to try this one out and report back. They also have a lifetime replacement policy. :)

Note8 BodyGuardz Pure Arc ES Premium Glass Screen Protector

Tried posting the link but Tapatalk is being a major PIA.

I have been through a few now and the Techmate I put on today is the best so far and it comes with lifetime warranty.
I'll do something a bit more of a comprehensive review in a day or two.

Do they give lifetime warranty on cracks?

Well put.
Agreed!

I've got the Whitestone protector in my drawer; haven't installed it yet

Just installed the Cubevit tempered glass protector and using it with a VRS Design case and it's superb. Fits very well indeed, with no halo or loose sections.

I'd highly recommend one:

I get the impression that this one has the edge-only adhesive (hence bubble-free). The air gap is a problem for me in the way that the phone looks, at a minimum. Was this one full adhesive, or edge only?

I've no idea sorry; just fitted it and it was absolutely fine!

Not as sensitive as the screen is naked, but then again, they never are!

The Whitestone dome tempered glass screen protector hands down is the best screen protector. I strongly recommend that you check out grav x 's Whitestone dome case compatibility videos 1 through 3. Your favorite case may not play nice with the Whitestone dome.
