Do you include phone insurance with your carrier? or with samsung? or do you get a 3rd party insurance? or none?

Self - Insured is best. Set aside $15 a month and as long as you don't damage youe phone yearly you can pay for your own repairs and save money in the long run.

I was just thinking about the insurance but I don't think I'm going to do it I haven't had extra phone insurance for as long as I can remember

I wholeheartedly agree and just dropped my insurance after getting the Note 9 and realized that I paid over $350+ in insurance fees dealing with my Galaxy S7 edge.

That could have went to getting this phone, lol.

Not to mention, say if I lost my S7 edge or something like that happened, I'd still have to pay a $200 deductible meaning that the cost is now $550+ which I could have used to buy an S7 edge outright if it came to that. With money to spare.

Im setting aside $20 a month to play it safe. And other than me losing my phone, should be more than enough to cover minor damages if I wanted to.

I hate paying for insurance, seems like a waste of money, which most cases it is, it won't benefit you, just put that money aside and chances are you'll end up with more money in the end.

Good thing is, I have the new Wells Fargo Propel amex card, it comes with phone insurance up to 600.00 if you use it to pay for your monthly bill.

I used to never buy insurance but now use Samsung for $12 a month. I do it for a year then I cancel it when I’m shopping for a new phone.

The thing is that if you do not have insurance through Samsung, the only way to get repair service is through a third party. From what I’ve been told by Samsung, they do not provide repair services unless the product is insured with them. Otherwise they’ll tell you to go to a third party. I was a bit shocked to hear of this, to be honest, because I was willing to pay for a repair to my GS6 edge but they sent me away. LOL

I've been trying to get samsung insurance for the last 3 phones now and the stupid app won't allow me to. Makes me not want to get it considering how poorly implemented the sign up process is.

Thank Frak I thought I was the only one who had the same issue! Happened this past Friday & the useless Samsung customer support wouldn't add it to an existing order. Later that evening the order finally picked up the insurance option at checkout while using Sammy's Shop app.

My Note 8 was stolen after only 6 months and I'm still crying :(
I'm considering insurance this time at least for one year

So you didn't have this option available to you?

Get a personal item policy from an insurance carrier like state farm. I don't know how people aren't aware of this or refuse to take advantage of it. A policy that covers up to $1000 in loss, theft, damage costs less than $70 a year. Theres no deductible and its full cost replacement, no questions asked. Ive had a policy for all my valuable electronics for years and have never had an issue.

I always use Squaretrade. Since we always hand down phones to the kids after we use them for a year or two, we end up keeping them for 3-4 years. So with squaretrade the third year is only $30, so it comes to $159 for three years of coverage. Only thing I hate is having to pay it all at once instead of monthly. It doesn't cover lost or stolen phones though, only damage.

Can you get their insurance after you purchased the phone?

I got something included with my mastercard that covers 80% of repair cost so that's good enough for me since I'm not even paying extra for it

You can only add Samsung premium care if you ordered through Samsung. I've had premium care on my S8+, and Note 8. I bought my Note 9 through best buy, went to transfer and they told me Samsung won't cover any phone's not purchased through Samsung. Crock of S#!+. They didn't bother to mention or give any warning you'd lose your coverage.

I purchased mine direct from Samsung. Is it on the shop Samsung app?

You are wrong I had premium care on my s8+ and my note 8 that I got from t-mobile, but samsung has the worst customer service on the planet and are horrible and developing apps. They canceled my premium care on the note 8 and I've not been able to sign up for it since. It's compete garbage, for a company as big as Samsung it's rediculous how poor their customer service is. You can't even call a real person to talk about premium care it's all done through the Samsung plus app which is the worst app ever developed.

I've been trying to get premium care for my last 3 phones and I've been unsuccessful, not sure why I'd want it considering how hard it is to get. I could only imagine how hard it would be to file a claim and get a replacement phone. Only reason I wanted it was for the $100 deductible.

My suggestion is to stay away from Samsung. Go with anything else or go without.
