What is the point of have a 1A output and 2A output. Why not 2x 2A outputs

Why do many battery packs and usb car/wall adapters have "dual" 1a/2a outputs. Why don't they just put two of the 2a outputs? If the device only needs 1a, it will only pull 1a from the 2a port. Having 2x 2a seems better than having one that is a 1a... Is there something I'm missing?

Some devices may not regulate the input and if you plug in a 2A supply it could fry the thing.
