What is this error and how can I get rid of it?

[Android Central Question]

while using my android device, I'm repeatedly shown a gray box that says:
Error: java.lang.NullPointerException: 'int java.io.InputStream.read(byte□)' on a null object reference

what is this, and how do i get rid of it? it pops up at least every 30 seconds and is quite annoying.
