What kind of experience are you having on Project Fi with Android Auto?

I'm on AT&T. I live in a spot that doesn't have the best T-Mo or Sprint coverage options and I recently started using Android Auto, and I love it. So there's no going back for me.

My data has jumped from a measly 300MB on average to 3.5GB and climbing with 9 days remaining in my month, and I'm on a 15GB plan with rollover. I pay a total of $114 a month with a company discount.

I'm wondering what other folks are experiencing with connectivity, as well as if you're an Android Auto user, what I can expect to pay in Data per month. I realize that we're not going to get the same numbers, but I'd like to know more or less what to expect if I were to be a daily commuter, 2 hours a day, with AA playing my favorite streams.

I am checking my own providers data as well as my own phone's data for reference.

Bonus points if you're in Elk Grove, California or thereabouts.

In a nutshell, how are you liking it? How much data do you use with AA? What's your coverage like? What's your bill like?

I want to switch. Help me decide?

"what I can expect to pay in Data per month". $20 for unlimited calls/text, and $10 / gb of data. (unused data is credited back in $, not data credit). If you want 5gb buy it . . . if you go over or don't use the exact under/over is credited back... no gimmick. At the current rates, there is really no reason to buy more than 1gb since its the same rate. As for streaming costs, I can't answer that, but would suspect its going to be very similar to your current data use. (I don't really understand why folks stream, instead of download and play from the unit, but I guess I'm frugal)

I have been very happy with the Fi service. I used about 1.5gb/mo. with previous carrier and if I don't try to watch my data usage, its about the same. Just for grins, for two months, I turned cell data off, except when I needed instant data (googling, facebook, uploading pics) and couldn't wait until getting on WI-FI and surpisingly stayed under .6gb/mo (both months). I was surprised how often the OS uploaded/downloaded being carefree. So to help you with the math, including taxes my bill(s) those two months were ($34.28 & $34.23 . . . crazy huh?)

As for the service; keep in mind Alphabets goal is to have you on wifi (yours, open/free) as often as possible. When a wifi call can't be made it looks for T.Mob and/or Sprint svc to process/receive the call. With that said --- it will roam to pretty much any provider due to roaming agreements from those two carriers. (I have rec'd and made calls on Vz and AT&T --- anyone that says it won't it just trolling or hating) Word of caution, this is not a mature wireless carrier. You can expect hiccups and most all the early adopters accept that risk with the cost savings as justification. So if you can't miss a call from work/biz, this might not be for you right now. One other tidbit some don't appreciate . . .when on 'some' sprint cells, you can't have call and data working at the same time.

The voice quality on cell or wifi is truly amazing. I've used wifi calling for many moons with various OS's and I can tell you Fi's doing it right. Seamless change to/from wifi and high quality sound. If you travel internationally --- the service is ridiculously priced (low) and you just roam effortlessly. . . no gimmicks, no hidden fees (look online for the pricing).

"In a nutshell, how are you liking it?" I'm impressed with the customer service and interaction (G+ page (invite only) is very informative and the community is very interactive (too bad we can't rid the trolls that wine about ????) The pricing plans are simple, the billing is fast (you literally can view your bill the day after the billing date closes) and voice quality is very good (did I mention the wifi to cell or to wifi is near perfect?) "What's your coverage like?" really can't tell that its much different that T Mo./Sprint.

Hope the feedback helps . . . I'd be happy to answer Q's offline if you have specific things you want to know.
