What phone are you coming from?

Those who intend to pick up a Nexus 5, what phone are you coming from?

3 year old HTC Desire HD running android 4.3 (CM 10.2 beta).
The phone that never dies, only needed a new battery and a replacement volume rocker.
Still runs Google's latest and greatest like a boss on it's single core snapgragon, There are low-end phones being released now that have worse specs than this bad boy.

Still, no time for nostalgia it's time to move on, will my new Nexus 5 last me for another 3 years?

GS3...I think I fall into a sizable camp..
GS3 finally got me onto Android but now I want it all!
no samsung lag,
updates (I fully understand why they take time through carriers, but its just always annoying to know there is something better out there),

As long as the camera reviews are acceptable I'm sold

Fed up of my GS3 (i9300). Fed up of Samsung Wizz all over Android. I started with a HTC Magic then a Nexus One, but then I switched to a GSII. The GSII wasn't too Samsung'd back in the days of Gingerbread, but Samsung have gotten worse with the "value add" since then. Mostly junk though. The Galaxy Nexus didn't give enough reason to go back to Nexus so ended up with a GS3. The GS3 has a pretty decent camera, but the general performance isn't great now. Chrome is very slow to load at times. Things are much quicker on the Nexus 4 (wife has one).

So long as the Nexus 5 has a better camera than the GS3 I'm on board for sure. I have got used to being able to swap my battery for a spare, but I think I'm just going to have get over that as more and more phones are doing non-replaceable batteries now. As for the SD card thing, I don't load videos or big games onto my phone so should be able to manage with the 16GB(ish) space.

If there is a 32gb option I will use it as a spare. No matter what my go to phone is the note 3

Well I guess you will be staying with the sgs3. The Nexus has never had a decent camera

IF...IF...IF....I'm still holding hope....that the N5 with work on Verizon....If so i will leave my Droid DNA for Nexus Line. I mean you think about it. Google did manage to get all bands of lte in the New N7.......So why not the N5...Sure if you are out of lte area you will be out of service, but that can be considered a trade off. But if it wont work on Verizon i will go with the G2 off contract. Then once my contract is over(mid next year) i may jump off the verizon bandwagon an go to t-mobile.

The problem with that is on Verizon they do use GSM technology LTE, however its only for Data, voice service is done via the 3g CDMA radio. The N7 can work via the LTE bands, and I guess you could make "calls" from it using VOIP setups, but not tried and true voice calls with verizon unless verizon allowed VoLte and if the N5 was VoLte capable.... so unless they are hiding a CDMA radio inside the phone that no one has leaked out yet, there is ZERO chance of being able to use it on Verizon.

No option for dumb/feature phone? There are some of us who still don't have a smartphone. I know I lead a sad life but I at least have a Nexus 7.

Switching from a N4, will either sell this bad boy or keep it around just in case the unthinkable happens!

Coming from An LG optimus G, great phone but that overheating problem made me have to exchange 3 of those bad-boys out. I just want a simple nexus device to match my nexus 7 and to be vanilla and to just work.

Nexus 4 here. This has been my favorite phone so far, so I'm excited to see the N5 top it.

Exact same for me.

The S3 was great, but I'm ready for something else and been waiting for this phone for a while now.

I'll be coming from droid RAZR...... If the Nexus comes to Verizon
