Can anyone please help. It's not showing LTE next to the signal icon. I'm using it on ATT.
have you downloaded "carrier services" from the app store?

A few days in and I rarely show LTE on my status bar. It is there once in a while. I always have LTE with my iPhone. This is with Verizon.
The sides of the phone are having serious touch sensitivity problems in Wechat and Messenger and that is incredibly annoying. Switching back to the iPhone gives me perfection with those two apps so there is a problem.
Essential's phone is as slippery as butter on a warm pan. It NEEDS a case! It cries out for one. A simple thin leather case would be perfect. As would a simple rubber bumper.
Battery is actually just okay under heavy use. Nothing special at all and not as good as my iPhone 6S Plus (no surprise given that phone's size).
A huge positive is how nice it is to slip this in your pocket and not feel as though you have a brick in there. That's great. The size is right.
But that screen is NOT properly utilized. Outside of the launcher it's pretty much just wasted space that is not used. I am betting this will not be the case with the new iPhone.
Update the Camera app via Google Play for stability fixes, reduced shot time & improved low-light performance.https://t.co/ukaJhNr3e9
Yeah me too. I am okay now.
The camera is sloooow. 4K video is really bad to actually start recording. Seriously, this phone feels 5 years old when it comes to the camera.
YouTube is definitely a problem to use.
Touch screen definitely has some wonkiness at the edges at times. It's odd.
The screen is downright dark compared to my iPhone.
Build quality is superb. It's the sexiest, coolest phone I have ever touched, but so what if it has some serious issues? This just feels rushed, like they knew they would lose out on sales once the iPhone 8 launched and so they had to get to market. At what cost?! Their reputation is taking a huge beating. Nobody who reviews phones on YT is keeping it. They all come right out and say it's inferior to the Note 8 or even the S8 (which is fragile as heck, but yup, has a terrific camera).
I am betting these phones are half off used by xmas.
Mine is going back. I hope they get it right next year. IF they survive.
For the record, I think the fingerprint sensor is more than adequate. It has never felt slow. The sound quality is great. Call quality is great. It charges very fast and the battery seems to last quite a long while. Scrolling around is nice and fast. Lack of bloatware is cool. I don't think any phone out or coming out will look and feel as awesome.
I don't know what to say, I can't use iPad or iPhone in broad daylight and that's an notorious issue with iPhones and iPads. I have been using Essential in broad daylight and certainly is not bad when compared to my iPhone 7 Plus.Using the phone in daylight is practically not possible. No such issues with my iPhone. I HATE talking on it because I have the drop the top edge of the phone into the middle of my ear to hear. Uncomfortable. And my friends are complaining that they cannot hear me well.
I had some crashing of apps last night.

No problems with the earpiece as well.
I thought you were going to return it anyways, no?
I am returning it (if they ever get me a label). But I am still using it.
No problem using the iPhone in broad daylight. Very clearly brighter for me.
The ear piece is not broken. it is the design itself. This proves that bezels are actually needed.
I am still waiting for my return package. I can't want to be done with essential. Probably the worse phone I have ever dealt with
The current problems folks facing are literally software bugs. As a pro-consumer, I think this is expected, that is if you are one. Once the bugs are fixed, there is no doubt this will be one of the best phones out there.
That is a giant leap of faith. There are no facts to support what you are saying. Yeah, it would be terrific if the phone does improve. But their customer service is not just anemic, it's downright pathetic. I cannot trust them.
People are loyal to their phones for some reason. The Essential phone could catch on fire and burn their homes down and they would still defend it. The design is nice but this phone is pretty mediocre backed by awful customer service. The phone stutters in places it shouldn't for a 2017 device.
And that camera app :-X
