Hello, I'm new and totally not a phone hacker/rooter/whatever, completely treading on new ground here. so any explanation you give me your gonna have to explain it like I'm 5 years old...if I can do anything with this. if this the wrong area I apoligize, I figure that the methods I will have to use arn't exactly going to be legit.
So a neighbor of mine was moving out and since they had to move out quick they were throwing out tons of stuff in boxes, mind you I can't resist a good rummage so I started seeing if I could find anything useful. amoungst some PC cables and other stuff I found a HTC Hero 200 Sprint edition with a low charge, I figured they must have dropped it in there by mistake and I tried returning it to them. they told me that they didn't want it anymore and they upgraded to new phones (don't know why they didn't return the phones they had but whatever I didn't want to pry).
The phone was locked to a google account and it looks like the person didn't even erase the phone, so I did them a solid looked up a tutorial on youtube and hard reset the phone so I couldn't use any personal data of theirs. So my main goal here is to reconfigure this thing into a media device y'know take pics, listen to music, surf the web via wifi. I already got an estlibashed phone so I have no interest in signing up to sprint or anything.
Thing is, the phone is now stuck in an activation/setup thing. I tried linking my google account to it and use a wifi hotspot nearby to get around the no network thing but I guess I need a sprint account afterall because I can't get past a certain point after I estlibash a wifi hotspot and enter my google account information. didn't figure it'd be this easy though so thats why I went googling and came across this place.
So mainly I want to know if I can use this phone for what I want to do with it and how would I go about getting past this activation setup. is it possible guys? and if so how?
Thanks for the help.
