I was trying to take a picture of a small flower and isolate it from the background. The camera just wanted to focus on the background.... help

"All I wanna do is a boom boom boom and a zoom zoom zoom"

Are you using tap to focus? Switch to Macro mode and tap the subject so the camera can focus on it. If you are too close, stepping away a little bit can help.

Where the heck is macro mode?

The gs4 can take some very nice macro shots. This is from my phone.

Nice shot! How did you get the macro shot though? Is there a setting or an app?

Tappety tap tapping on a VZW Note3

Just the Samsung stock app. Got up close, framed the shot, touched where to focus and snapped the pic.

You want enterprise features out of a phone. Stop being stupid. Macro is macro, you need special gear to go.

The pic above I took with the phone. It's possible to get decent macro shots but of course pro gear allows for more.
