What's wrong with the LG g2?

It just looks so cluttered. It's so stupid the notifications don't start until halfway down. The GS4 is like that. With the second screen in 4.2, we don't even need quick settings, though they are nice. An old version of HTC Sense had a tab at the bottom of the notification shade, it was loaded to the brim with all sorts if settings. Much better than anything anyone is doing now.

Ya not a fan of how that looks either, hopefully you have the option to disable that as it seems pointless to me.

Also what is the additional button on the bottom right?

It opens LG's note app or something dumb.

It should be Home, Back, Multi and Menu.

Qslide apps and volume bar looks like it doesn't belong there and really clutters the pulldown. Hopefully a custom ROM will fix that. :-P

Here is a link to a video, not in english unfortunately, but it shows that Q slide apps is disabled in the notification area. The person then turns them back on. If you don't like Q slide apps, seems it is easy to hide them and clear up the notification area without having to root.

Sweet!

It looks like that may be customized as well as some of the videos I have seen only have the standard 3 buttons. So again a good thing if that is the case

Yea LG offers like 10 different combos of how you want the buttons. IE. Menu, home, back or back, home, menu, etc.

It's Lg and they are the WORST with updates( don't expect any)
The UI looks like an even worse copy of the already ugly samsung touchwiz
Unsure how the battery will be but I hope with such a large battery it is pretty good.
I am actually intrigued by the buttons on the back.
They let verizon mutilate it with all those logos and from the pictures looks like they changed the back buttons somewhat
Hoping it is buttery smooth since it has the snapdragon 800 in it and how much of an improvement over the 600 in real world usage is yet to be seen.
I like the knock on feature( can't believe others haven't done this)
Good to see an OEM using on screen buttons like google intended.
I hope they can succeed and can turn around their update patterns.

Lg hasn't been bad with updates for quite some time. All of their recent phones have been treated quite well as far as updates go, and they've even been getting some older devices too.

They were bad with updates in the past (like Samsung and HTC) but they've made a serious effort to not make those mistakes again.

The problem is that the camera sensor pixel size on one is half that of the other. LG did manage to keep them the same size as the G's 8 megapixel unit, but they're still pretty small compared to the One's. Also, unless you're blowing them up massively, the 4 megapixel pictures are just fine for enlarging. (Someone did a project with a panorama they took on their One, and it printed in large format just fine)

How large is "large forma?
8X10?
11X14?
13X19?
larger?

And were the images printed directly from the phone or did they use Photoshop or Genuine Fractals to enlarge the images?

It was a panorama. Was at least two feet wide by one foot tall. Wasn't printed directly from the phone, but it had no retouching or anything like that done in the printing process

Funny, with all the motoX love afair going on. Some people are "loving" the dimple on the back of the motoX because their finger rests "right there" YET think the button placement on the G2 is dumb because nobody puts their fingers on the back. I think once you get used to it, itll be natural to you and you wont think twice about it.

You must not hold your phone like, well, everyone else. Putting the buttons there is an intuitive design choice. As intuitive as putting them on the side, where your thumb will rest.

It's always fascinating when people try to tell you what everyone else does.

Most people, especially with large screen devices, hold them with their thumb on one side, middle/ring/pinky on the other, and index on the middle back. This creates a tripod of sorts with your hand to support the phone.

I'm curious as to your reference for how most people hold a phone. I have note 2 and the phone rests against 3 fingers, minus my pinky, which supports the bottom of the phone. My thumb is free to navigate the phone screen.
How do MOST (since you know) people navigate the phone if their thumb is holding one side of the phone? Are you saying MOST people use one hand to exclusively hold the phone and the other hand is used for all the navigation?

A note is a completely different situation since that device is much, much larger.

I have the Moto X, i'm exchanging it/refunding it within my 14 day window to get this phone.

i'm not happy with the Moto X's screen in particular.

Yeah i don't think many people put a finger on the back of the phone. I am not one to be picky. I think the buttons are a neat idea and logical as a phone gets bigger. I'm not telling you or anyone what to do but just playing around with finger placement and resting my index on the back does not feel awkward at all. It feels pretty natural and i think people are making a bigger deal out of this then it needs to be.

People tend to follow a path and not think much of it. That's fine but its incredible boring. I want to be able to have my screen on when i pull the phone out of my pocket...come on.

From the droid-life quick hands on. It shows that when you pull the notification bar down half the screen is toggles and quick apps. I'm hoping it just shows the possibilities of what you can have and not what you are stuck with. So I'm hoping it is configurable

I agree, it's a little too busy for my liking but is not a deal breaker. I like the customization of the on screen button area, can't wait for it to get released in Canada :)
