What's Your Default Messaging App? Lots of lag with Google's

Re: Texting App

What's up with the ads text on textra. I was giving this app a try but I don't want to see stupid text ads. Gonna go back to stock app. Only reason I was using textra was for the group text.

Pay for the app and the ads magically disappear! Its worth the money and keeps the developer motivated to update the app which gets updates almost weekly.

Re: Texting App

This was on my Note 4 before the last update it had. Best feature which was removed. Ability to turn Group conversations on/off for each group on the fly.

Is there any app now that has something like this?

I use Textra, but only because on the stock messaging app when you swipe away a message notification it remains on the app icon. I swiped it away, I don't want to see it or I read it already. There are certain things I want in a messaging app, quick reply and scheduled messages. Hangouts I stopped trusting, same as verizon messages. after a few hours late messages I can't use them.
For work I forced everyone onto telegram. After using it for a week they all love it, but, not sms. I'll put in a big plus for facebook messengers chat heads.

In the settings for the messages app there should be a setting to turn that back on.
Open message app, then more, settings, more settings, multimedia messages, then turn on group conversations.

Re: Texting App

I try many but always go back to textra, it simply works, all the time. I try others because textra is boring. I used to love gosms because of all the customizations but what I desire most from a sms app, is the ability to assign individual notification icons (I also want themes or the ability to change the background and for it to work all the time). Since lollipop, most apps make them white. I am now using next sms but I know it will soon glitch. I am hearing some talk about a new app, YAATA. Anyone use it, like it, have any thoughts about it?

That only sets group conversation default on/off. 5 steps over the old 1 step. Oh well, ive gotten used to having to go into settings to change it anytime i wanna do multi to single text. Thanks though.

I miss that feature as well.

Verizon messages app.
Lots of love for textra here.
What are the major selling points for this application versus VM or what's app?

Verizon message is nice, but an absolute battery hog..if they fix that I would use it.

Yep, count me as a Textra user.. Never used it on my other Android phones but wish I did now.. 2 thumbs up here..

Textra is tops. No question. It's only downfall IMO is the lack of advanced message details, like long-pressing on a message to get all the additional info of that message. All you can do is swipe to get the time-stamp. Good, but not nearly enough.

I see a lot of votes for Textra. I'm going to check that out today. I was using the stock Messenger app with no issues.

Re: Texting App

I have used them all even purchased some. I ALWAYS come back to textra. I would use Chomp but I NEED individual notification icons. They allow this for textra but not chop.

Re: Texting App

I enjoyed using the stock messaging app for about a month...with only 1 complaint... The emojis don't sync with iOS emojis which most of my family has. So, I switched to textra and downloaded their iOS emoji pack. I am very pleased with textra!

Re: Texting App

Used textra on HTC M8 now on S7 edge. Great app & syncs with Moto 360 2nd Gen flawlessly
