Whats your first impression of your new Moto X!?

What are the thoughts on the Crater or Pot hole in the back? I would think it would make it even more stable in hand?

I keep hearing how slippery the i6 is, Reporter on CNBC yesterday showed her 2nd shattered screen ...and yes she said she was heading back to get a 3rd one

Mine arrived yesterday morning (25 September) a day earlier than expected with no shipping info ever sent. My initial thoughts after spending the day with it.

1. I hate the vibrator with a passion. There is no vibrate feel just the high pitched buzz cheap vibrators make.
2. My cognac leather back is a much different color in person than all the pictures I've seen would indicate and it is very poorly applied to the back. There are areas around the edge where I can see the material was cut to short or something. Additionally I thought at first there was plastic covering the dimple but upon closer inspection it appears it is just very discolored and scratched.
3. Im not sure what coating they are/aren't using on the screen but man does this thing attract fingerprints!
4. I have no LTE as well, previous phones in the past year were G3, S5 Active, S5, N5.. So I know LTE is provisioned on my account. I escalated several times to higher teir support yesterday and was told the phone shows as Motorola in the system and not "unknown" as most unlocked phones do. I can not get the visual voicemail app to work either, so maybe there is an issue somewhere.
5. I love the software, easily the fastest and smoothest phone I've ever owned. The custom wake up command works very well and makes using the phone hands free easy and reliable. Call quality is excellent and this thing can get LOUD! Speakerphone volume I have set just below half and it is still loud enough to be heard in the other room.
6. The Moto migrate app is awesome! I wish I had something like this when my wife moved from the iphone 5s to the S5 Active! I'm still hearing her complain about what didn't get moved over 2 months later!
7. The camera doesn't seem nearly as bad as some reviewers have said. Not as good as the G3 or either of the S5's I had but way better than the N5 and slightly better than my old G2.

I'm honestly thinking about contacting Motorola for a replacement, the back on mine is very poorly done and I think it will not last very long with some of the edges exposed the way they are. I know it appears there is a lot of negatives up there but overall I Iike this phone a lot.

Question for those with leather backs -- when you're working the processor hard for some period of time how warm does the leather get? Two things concern me about leather:

1) Will the leather insulate the phone and prevent heat dissipation?

2) Will heat from the phone affect the leather quality and longevity?

Would really like some real world usage info on this before ordering. Thanks.

So guys/gals, how much of the screen do the navigation buttons take up? I gotta say thats 1 thing i like about the 6..1 thing

Can you post photo comparisons between the Nexus 5 and new Moto X?

Also, please share your battery experience when you get a good idea of how it is. Would love to especially hear how it fares compared to the Nexus 5.

(I'm a Nexus 5 owner if you haven't gathered yet!). Thanks!

those pics are what prompted me to ask the question. Im really after a measurement.

Don't forget that the Note 3 has Download Booster that uses LTE and Wifi for downloading. I think that makes it faster.

I think I've isolated it to the bluetooth radio. I can stream fine. The issue seems to happen when I connect to an external speaker system over bluetooth (like my car). The stream then begins to stutter and drop out. If I connect wired via AUX it works fine.

Can you post a picture of your leather issues? Thanks.

Trying to charge my Nikon now, because it's right on the edge where it meets the phone I'm not sure how well it will show in pictures. It is very noticeable in hand tho.

I've noticed no unusual heat, in fact it runs much cooler than both my G3 and either S5 version I owned. I haven't gamed on it tho. Did watch some videos.

The N5 is long gone so I can't compare the 2. I have readily available an S5 Active, G3 and my wifes old iphone 5S here currently. It appears to be almost the same size as the G3 but in hand feels much smaller. I can give a better battery assessment in a few days. I had to throw it on the charger 3x yesterday but it came charged at only 35% and I never got it to 100% until this morning so I think I'll have a better idea in a few days.

That's part of my concern -- that the leather not fully allow heat to dissipate. Would prefer not to fry the internals of my phone.

My main thinking for going with resin back was that it's probably more durable than wood and that it probably dissipates heat better than both wood and leather. I'm not sure how true these statements are, but it was at least my best bet.

Definitely would like a photo of the cognac leather. Phandroid's photos made it look very very reddish, which I don't like. I want a more true brown. Other photos though show the cognac in a much truer brown color.

Any comments on the black plastic back? Good/bad - fingerprints? Someone said it was a fingerprint magnet....

There is one on the beginning of this thread. I would like to see cognac next to natural leather

First battery drain. This looks terrible but I spent the day installing apps and downloading and streaming music. Plus a long commute reading and constantly playing with because it's new. Normally I plug in as soon as I get in the office. Didn't do that until just now. Good? Bad? No idea.

Speaking of those pictures, the OG X screen looks the best on that photo. Which screen, out of the 3, do you like the best?
Let me get back to you on that question. All the phones were on auto brightness and the picture was meant to show display resolution and not the quality of the image. I'll see if I can capture some real photos and post those later.

The M8 has only a slightly bigger battery than the Moto X and has the same processor and same number of pixels, so wouldn't it only have slightly better battery life than the Moto X? It seems like the Moto X has a thinner software layer as well.
