Whatsapp camera unfocusing when engaged on S8 Plus

After the last software update, every time I touch to focus on Whatsapp's built-in-camera while I'm sending a message the camera instead is unfocusing. There was a Whatsapp update as well but judging from the other phones of friends and family,
it seems to be happening on just my Samsung S8 Plus. Is there any way to fix this?

Assuming that the camera focuses will using other apps, contact WhatsApp and ask them if they could fix the problem.

If it doesn't focus properly using other apps, it's probably a bad camera module, and it will have to be replaced.

The camera does work on the S8 Plus's default camera app as well as a few other camera apps I use. This could then be a Whatsapp issue because after uninstalling the app and reinstalling it, the camera add-on when messaging still unfocusses when I touch to focus.

I have emailed Whatsapp on the issue multiple times, even contacted them from the app itself, but they haven't come back to me with anything close to a solution other than what has already been tried beforehand by me. This issue hasn't been resolved on my end unfortunately.
