When I'm dialing a number I have all these Facebook Contacts that are there. I dont want them popping up. They are not in my Contacts/People portion just when I go to dial a number.

Im pretty sure I got rid of them before, but I cant figure it out now and cant seem to find the thread were I got the info from.

Any help would be great!

From the main menu in the facebook app, click menu, then settings, then under "Other Settings>Sync Contacts" choose "Sync with existing contacts"

I THINK this is what you are looking for...?

Did you download the facebook app from the market?

@bthomp21 yes Facebook for Android

@leehblanc I did that, but I still have all those numbers present when I go to dial a number. But they are not there in my contacts.

Open your contacts and hit menu then view and make sure your Facebook contacts are not checked.

I've done that and I believe thats how I got rid of them before and now they wont go away! Sigh

Settings > Accounts & sync > Facebook and then hit remove account. I've done this 5 or 6 times trying to get all my facebook contacts off there and just sync my current contacts. I have had absolutely no success. I downloaded the Facebook app for android which allows syncing with only contacts but it does not seem to work. I have just put a "People" link from the drawer on my homescreen and try not to use the phone contacts.

I think I know what's going on here. Once those facebook contacts synced, they were probably saved to your Google account. I suggest the following:

Delete your facebook account in Settings>Accounts & Sync. In your facebook app, turn off contact sync.

Log into your Google account at Gmail.com from a computer. Clean out any unwanted facebook contacts that appear there.

Back on your phone, go to Settings>Accounts & Sync and manually refresh your Google account.

Go back to your facebook app, and try syncing only to phone contacts.

Let me know if you have success with this.

I tried this and that wasn't the issue unfortunately. I think you have to use the facebook app from the market. And that one allows you to only sync with current contacts. But I think Sense is pulling everything from that and syncing your full facebook contacts anyway. This is my analysis of it anyway. Emailed HTC for help, hopefully they have some insight tomorrow/Mon

Sorry I couldn't help... if you find the answer, could you update this thread? I'd love to know what's going on with this.

Could you do me a favor and tell me what you see please.

Go "All Apps" --> "People" and on top banner it should by default list "All" with that open do you see people from your facebook listed in the list there?

Nope, not my entire facebook list

Well that list is who you should be pulling from when you hit phone icon.

Only think else I could think of is maybe check your "Search" menu under settings and see if you are allowing contacts to be searched. I can't imagine they intended search to mean for phone and not simply when you use goggle search feature, but I have all my search options unchecked and when I did check contacts I still don't get any when I try to type letter on phone prompt window.

Yeah, I agree. I tried unchecking the facebook option in the search without any luck. I hit menu while in Phone and "People" is available there with only the contacts I want. But still evvverrry body is listed on that first page.

Maybe its a sign I should stop being "friends" with people I don't want to talk to :-\

So wait when you go Phone --> Contacts --> Menu --> View you only have Check Mark next to "Phone" on the bottom options menu?

Not sure what you mean. Not sure where the options menu is

I went to Phone > People > Menu. Then there is an option for View which I did and that I have Facebook for HTC Sense unchecked.

Boy the ability to do screenshots would make this a lot easier

Well, after installing and deleting Facebook for Android a few times.

I just logged in and choose not to syc contacts and that prevented all of the contacts going to my contact list while dialing numbers. However, thats a fix for now...I want to link my contacts that are on facebook to my phone. So will play with it some more.

Bump to see if anyone has found a fix for this....

I want to sync Facebook to my list of contacts, but it puts all of your facebook contacts in there. Only in the section where you can search when dialing a number.

I've been fighting this issue as well. I've been using the android facebook app.

I've deleted my facebook account on the phone and then gone to the dialer, the contacts are gone as I expect. Then I go to menu > settings > accounts & sync and UNCHECK auto-sync and background data to ensure that all syncing is off. Then I recreated my facebook account. I go back to the phone dialer and the contacts are there.

This leads me to believe that the phone dialer is caching those contacts somewhere and loading them in if it sees I have a facebook account?

I have yet to try deleting the entire facebook app, but I doubt that will do anything. I could also try deleting all facebook data before re-adding my account.
