When/Will Verizon offer the DroidX up for pre-order?

I noticed a BJ's coupon that entitles you to receive a $50 gift card when you purchase an andriod phone from their Verizon kiosk. Coupon expires 8/30/10 and does not specify any particular phone(s). I called to confirm I can use it for the Droid X and they said "yes".

I'm sure it will be like Apple's pre-order only a little bit before release. This way they can get anyone who orders online a phone on launch day.

Fyi i just got off the phone with vzw to cancel my incredible order you know its incredible how hard it is to cancel that order anyway after i nicely explained they billed me for a phone i cancelled weeks ago i asked about the pre order and she said there is none and probably wont be. i was told to call in on launch day to order or go to vzw.com. i have to call cause i have an eris to send back and get credited sooo yea. i wont be waiting in any lines for any amount of time. ive got too much of a life for that crap.

Why not just order from Verizon's website when its available? You get the rebate instantly online, nothing to mail in.

If they don't do the pre-order, I'll just go to my local "corporate" verizon store and get it there. Fortunately, I live in a relatively small town (, 100,000 people) and there are never issues with selling out of phones. They had the Incedible in-stock for several days after launch date.

A lot of places are not taking pre-orders after the Incredible debacle. I am on the call list for launch day for my guy. He is going to send me an email night before to let me know how many they got in, and I will go pick it up 7am next day.

Just turned in my incredible yesterday (30day policy). VZM rep said they will not even have display until 7/15 and not taking any pre-orders because of all the problems with the Inc. He said to go to Best Buy or VZM online, so I went to BestBuy and was first on the waiting list. (a Scottsdale location)

$1350 to close...single bid at the last minute.

that's just ignorant.

or maybe verizon stepped in & bought it to find out which loaner was sold...

For those wondering about BB and early upgrades. I was told they would honor Verizon's early upgrade policy and I went in and pre-ordered the phone. Mine's up a week later however. Not sure that makes a difference.

Really hope it's not an issue on launch day.

Hey Papa, I even called BB and they told me that they do not do the Annual Upgrades at all. Then, I read another post on Crackberry that someone said a rep at Verizon noted it on her account and then she went to BB and got the pre order, any truth? Maybe.

Ok, just got off the phone with Verizon (I gotta say their customer service is just exceptional compared to five years ago or so). Anyway, my new every two is up end of July and she said in no uncertain terms that I am "good to go" and that "everything is set for your upgrade." She said similar things several other times as well but two should suffice. She said even though its a third party retailer, the upgrade should go through early as it's still a verizon phone, verizon account.
So I feel pretty confident about that.

If your NE2 is up at the end of July, you'll be eligible to upgrade on the 15th because your contract ends before Dec 31st. It depends on the 3rd party retailer as to how they handle the promotion as they have more flexibility in saying yes or no.

I was told by Verizon today to keep checking the Droid Does | The Next Generation of Does by Verizon Wireless site for pre order info...Incredible got screwed by samsung....this will be completely different.

I went in a verizon store saturday and was told no word about preordering but it wont be backed up like HTC they said they will have plenty in stock as the company that makes the glass front is different then the company that makes the HTC incredible

My contract is up end of july too, I was told I can upgrade early but wont get the 100.00 trade in credit so basically I will have to wait till july 25th instead of july 15 then I can get the phone for 100.00 vs 200.00. for that difference its worth the wait of 10 days besides it gives me a chance to hear peoples reviews on phone after using it a few days. I was toying with getting the incredible but woud like to see the droid x make sure its not to big

I have a friend who was eligible for the annual discount. He went to Best Buy to get the incredible and was told it would be the full price. He was told they do not honor the annual upgrade price.

check this out...

BB employee answers questions. among them, so long as the VZW site shows your early upgrade pricing (and thus your VZW account shows it when BB looks), BB will honor it.

[edit: despite what the employee in the above thread said, neither of my local BBs said they could offer the $199 price on an early upgrade. $329 instead, so not full retail, but not $199 either. they both looked at the account and confirmed they saw my early upgrade OK status, but said BB just can't do it. so i called vzw and asked them to change my normal upgrade date to 7/15. took some convincing, but they did it. just called BB back and asked them to recheck, and they confirmed that i am good to go. yes, my pre-order is already in. yes, they also confirmed that there are no more dx pre-orders being taken.]
