Where do EBay sellers get off selling the N4 for twice its value?

+4 on what most everyone is saying. This is economics. Value and price are very different. On most levels, value is purely personal. Price is usually out of the individuals control. What you choose to do is your decision.

If people are dumb enough to spend that amount of money on the phone, then they deserve to get taken advantage of. I don't hate on people who buy electronics that sell out then turn around and sell them marked up and I don't feel sorry for the idiots who just can't wait. If they have money to burn, let them.

That's true, but I wouldn't expect an 8 GB model to go for more than a 16 GB does at T-Mobile. Are people dumb enough to pay that, when they can pay less in-store AND have it right away vs. waiting for it to be shipped to them?

And what's with all the semantics Nazis in here? You know what I meant by "value". This is an internet forum, not an essay. Not wanting to pay what someone is charging isn't "Cheap Ass". It's a way to tell the seller that you're charging too much for my taste. Sellers charge what buyers are willing to pay, and each individual buyer has a different threshold. So technically, the "value" of the device to me isn't more than its list price, plus maybe $50 for the convenience of getting it earlier than I would if I waited for Google to restock, if I'm not willing to pay what the sellers are charging at the moment.

Because we don't know what you MEAN to say; just what you SAY. If you say, "I'm going to kill the President," the Secret Service will be paying you a visit in very short order and aren't going to accept you bleating, "You know what I meant. I meant that I was going to blog about how much I don't like him. Ow! OWWW!!! Not so tight on the handcuffs!!!"

There are different words for everything because they mean different things. Why not use the correct word to communicate your meaning all the time instead of saving it for your graded essays? It doesn't take any longer, doesn't cost any more, and it prevents coming off as an illiterate ninny. There is a huge difference between EXPRESSING oneself and COMMUNICATING a point. COMMUNICATION is when the message is understood by the listener the same way the speaker intended it. If someone thinks you're talking about VALUE (a concept) when you said "value", it's not their fault they didn't know you meant PRICE (a number); it's yours for failing to actually communicate while you were expressing yourself.

Half the posts in this thread would've been eliminated if you'd simply titled the thread, "Where do EBay sellers get off selling the N4 for twice its price?" Your premise would still be faulty, but you wouldn't come off as someone poorly educated and/or inarticulate. It's like people who use "ironically" when they mean "coincidentally" as in, "I bought milk at the store on my way home. Ironically, my mom bought some, too." How did she do that, while dressed as a cow?

Are EBay sellers really delusional enough to believe that people will pay TWICE the phone's value?

Ebay sellers will sell the phone for EXACTLY what it is worth - a price that is acceptable to both the buyer and the seller. It's not a difficult concept. If it's not worth that to YOU, then don't buy it... I make the decision not to buy things every day because it's not worth it to me. Doesn't mean I don't want something, it just means that I'm not willing to pay the price I would have to pay to own it.

BTW - the same market principles are what causes prices to come down on many things we buy. It works both ways.
