Just upgraded from Note 4 and the thing I am missing is my former phone's favorite numbers screen in the calling app. It featured couple of large tiles with people's faces. I used it a lot to call my family & friends in situations where I had no time to fiddle with searches and reading, just by touching familiar faces on the screen. Now it is completely gone :( Is there a way to bring it back?

You can also assign any of your contacts as a speed dial in the phones keypad. If you go to the phone app and go to the dialer, hit the three dots at the top right and select speed dial. There you can assign any of the 10 keys a number. To dial one, you just long press any of the keys on the keypad.

You can add a widget on your home screen to either direct call or direct text someone in your contacts.

I don't see this option anywhere. There aren't any three dots at top of the keypad and the settings don't show this option. ???

Make sure you are on the contacts section of the phone app, not the recent. The three dots are in the search box next to the microphone. Tap it and there are four options: Delete, Share, Speed Dial, Settings. This is how it is on my Verizon N8 anyway.

This is how I decided to do it on my phone since I turned off the edge thing. I created a folder on one of my home screens with all my favorites in it as one touch dials. Super easy and the same amount of taps as on my N4 to call a favorite.

Here's where you need to go:
