"Select ALL" feature in Galaxy S6

I am trying to delete all my emails from my phone (300+). I really do NOT want to have to select or swipe them all. Is there a select all feature so I can delete all at once? On my old phone, I could select one, then menu, then select all, however, there isn't this feature on the menu of the Galaxy S6. I have tried everything and searched everywhere! Perhaps it doesn't exist (really?!!). Your help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Re: "Select ALL" feature in Galaxy S6

Welcome to Android Central! This feature generally isn't available on most modern phones. It's a little dangerous, if you think about it.

I assume you're using the stock Email app. Who is your email provider? Can you just go to the web version of your email and delete from there? Or does it not have a web version?

Re: "Select ALL" feature in Galaxy S6

Do you have Verizon? Some claim there is an option under "more" to delete multiple emails but I am on vzw and don't. I ditched the stock email for type mail and have not looked back.

Re: "Select ALL" feature in Galaxy S6

On AT&T, in Trash folder, wait for the synch,to,stop and select More/Detail All.

Re: "Select ALL" feature in Galaxy S6

I agree. This is awful! On my S5 I could select all by day or check multiple emails and mass delete them. Now on S6, I have to swipe all individually. It's a nightmare. I usually don't have to go to my computer to check email. This ruins a lot of the functionality of having a "smart phone"

It's just an extra step. Miss some things from my GS4 but this is not one of them.

Re: "Select ALL" feature in Galaxy S6

Get rid of the stock email app and download something like type mail. Problem solved.

Re: "Select ALL" feature in Galaxy S6

One of the reasons I went to K9 email (very good app by the way) when I changed to this phone.

Re: "Select ALL" feature in Galaxy S6

I found a way to mark all email as read. Go the unread folder, press the first email and keep it pressed. You see the number of emails going down until all are marked read.

Re: "Select ALL" feature in Galaxy S6

Not available on most modern phones?! Is that a joke? I had this feature on my last phone, an iPhone 4 which was released in 2010!

on galaxy s7, email standard app, if press 1st message and hold, boxes should appear to
left..and at top to left...can select all and delete all

I agree...this business of taking away users ability to handle email however they
want is pretty bad... gmail app, to my knowledge, will not let you do a delete all.

if there is a way, have not found it.

who is google or anyone for that matter to tell users how to handle their email.

dangerous??....dangerous for whom!

Re: "Select ALL" feature in Galaxy S6

Does anybody know of a third party e-mail app having the functionality described by Lena above? It was so convenient (on the S3 with KitKat in my case) to have your mails grouped by date, select all of them by checking one box, then deselect the one or two you want to keep and delete the rest. I haven't found this feature in any other app so far.

Re: "Select ALL" feature in Galaxy S6

Thank you! Just wondering whether we mean the same. I just googled an old screenshot (not as good as I had hoped for...). This was what you saw immediately after opening the app (no further long press on anything). Above that "older" you found the last 5 or 6 or 7 days, I don't remember. Are those checkboxes really available in K9 and the Sprint version of MM immediately after opening? That would indeed be what I (and maybe Lena) were searching for... ☺

Re: "Select ALL" feature in Galaxy S6

My initial screen looks much different. Maybe because I have Sprint Marshmallow.
Here are my shots of the Marshmallow Mail App.

1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg

#1 Is the opening screen. Long press on first email to select it.
#2 Then touch the top box labeled "All".
#3 That selects all files.

Not sure if you have Marshmallow, or are still on Lollipop.

Thank you, jnichols. Yes, that's what it looks like on my device, too (also on MM). The difference to older versions is just that there is one more step (#1) and that there is no grouping by date... First world problem... ;-) And thank you too, Soccermom, I'll have a look.
