There is another thread on how to download ringtones where I posted how I did this. These steps that work if you do not use Astro or have NOT rooted your EVO:
For the EVO, I was not able to see a sub-directory on the SD card called media. So I combined Cory's instructions with the set given to get this. Note I still cannot find how to set the Alert tone.
• Connect your EVO to your computer using the USB cable.
• Open Windows Explorer and click on the drive for your phone (maybe F or G)
♦ Create a directory on the "root" (main) are of the drive called "media".
♦ Within "media" create a subdirectory called "audio."
♦ Within "audio" create subdirectories for alerts, notations, and ringtones:
• Copy ringtones to the ringtones sub-directory (typically under 30 seconds)Code:X: (or whatever drive letter is given to your phone) - media - - audio - - - alarms - - - notifications - - - ringtones
• Copy notifications (email, texts) to the notifications sub-directory (typically under 4 seconds)
• Copy alarms to the alarms sub-directory (typically under 4 seconds)
• Right click on the X: drive and click "Eject" or "Safely Remove"
• From the EVO tap Menu → Settings → Sound & Display
- - Phone Ringtone to set your ringtone
- - Notification Sound to set the notification
I do not know how to set the Alarm sounds. Any ideas?
