Where's the picture thread?

Beautiful afternoon scene at the cottage today.

We have a mix of red, black, and gray squirrels here in northern IL. This summer we saw a first: a white tailed squirrel.
Upon further inspection, we found that it was a red squirrel with a white tail. A trip to Google informed that the white tail is a genetic trait that can just show up, and if a female gets it, she will pass it on to her offspring. No clue if this one is a male or female, but if we see a bunch next year or the year after, we'll know. PXL_20220619_210348579~2.jpg

What an interesting looking squirrel. I've never seen any squirrel with a white tail.

Fascinating!

Are black squirrels common in your neck of the woods?

They are not common in Cleveland, Ohio, but they are all over the place in Kent, Ohio.

I think they are pretty common here in Ontario! Gray ones may be more frequent in sightings, however. Some of the different-coloured ones fight like no tomorrow!

Why couldn't "Pin the Horn on the Unicorn" have been around when I was a kid?!
