Which is better Smart Actions vs. Moto Assist?

Rye...Just upgraded to Droid Turbo...No Smart Action
How do I get Moto Assist to know when I am home and that I need to be using WiFi?
The same for When I am Driving. I had smart Actions set to turn WiFi off and Bluetooth on when driving.
Both work great with Smart Action.

I too found it frustrating coming from a phone that had Smart Actions to the Turbo. I looked around a bit at different programs that would replicate what Smart Actions did and finally found one that I think is actually better than Smart Actions and just as easy. It is called MacroDroid. To answer your question, I use MacroDroid coupled with a specific Bluetooth action (connected to home phone) to know when I'm home and when I'm not and it works every time! I have a set of Panasonic cordless phones that I bought and used before I got my Turbo. The Panasonic cordless phones connect automatically to my cell phone as soon as I get home. This works well for me because I usually take my cell phone off and put it on the counter right when I get home. The macro I have setup called "I'm home!" simply looks for a Bluetooth connection to these Panasonic phones and when that happens it activates the Macro which turns WiFi on. Similarly, I have my phone connect automatically to my car stereo when I get in the car so I have a macro setup to turn WiFi off when the phone connects to the car stereo and then turn WiFi back on when this Bluetooth connection is disconnected. Using MacroDroid these actions are very easy to setup so if you have Bluetooth in your house and car I have found that is a surefire way for the phone to know when you are home or driving :)

I want to put my turbo on vibrate when I am working on weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm. Is there a way to do it using assist?

Re: Smart Actions vs. Moto Assist

If you have a calendar entry indicating you are "busy" during those hours it will work. But that is a pain as you will need 5 entries per week.

Just do a recurring appointment that happens weekly every day except the weekend. You can delete the individual ones when you have vacation days, holidays, etc.

On the phone, set recurring, choose custom, choose weekly, choose our work days.

That said, it might be easier to install a third party app like llama or Tasker to do this....

Simplicity is a worthy goal, but adding an "Advanced" option to address more complicated scenarios would be welcome.
I really miss being able to have WiFi turn off at work and on at home or off again when driving

Is there significant battery drain if you leave WiFi on all the time?

I"m using Locale and have it set to turn wifi on when I get to my home address and turn it off when I leave home. Also changes the volume to medium when it recognizes I get to work

For me I turn it off because it tries to connect to the wifi at the hospital which requires me to re-accept the terms every 30min or something dumb and because my phone gets stuck in that limbo waiting for me to go to the webpage and approve I never get any data coming through.

Have it forget that wifi hotspot so it won't try to connect?

Re: Smart Actions vs. Moto Assist

Or have one event repeat weekly, M-F. Then set Assist to "meetings" mode
