Which phone are you switching from and why?

I traded my Epic in for the Evo Shift. The Epic was a good phone, but it lagged and had so many force closures, it just got real irritating. After all the reviews I've read of the Evo Shift, I took the chance and returned my Epic on day 30. Plus, Best Buy Mobile, price matched Walmart.com (89.99). I was able to get back more than $100 for a superior phone (IMO).

Wow... Good deal!!! I was at my local Best Buy today and was surprised to see that they are now carrying Sprint phones. (They never did before.) I just bought my Evo Shift at Radio Shack (on 1/7) for $149.99. If I returned it to Radio Shack and was able to get Best Buy to price match the $89.99 price, I could save close to $40 (even after the 15% restocking fee). Hmmm.....

I switched from the Optimus S to the Evo Shift 4g because my Optimus broke. I actually had the first Evo 4G and think I might actually go back to it because I like the bigger size and the FFC of the Evo 4g.

Well, I changed my mind. I'm not going.to use the FFC enough to justify spending $55 more on an EVO 4G. This phone ( EVO shift) is a well built phone and quite a bit faster.. I'm keeping the shift ..

I came from an epic 4g. The screen had finally cracked and I was under the impression that it would be the same price or cheaper to get a shift and Im glad I was fed bad info for once. So far Im loving every aspect of the phone compared to the epic, although there are some things I do miss from the epic. But 2.2 and an HTC phone more then make up for it. I have to admit at first the keyboard was an adjustment from the 5 row, but the more and more I use it the more I realize how much I love HTC phones.

I'm switching from a blackberry bold to a shift today, it's getting delivered today so I'll have to set it up after work. I'm so excited to get this phone! My blackberry does most of what I need but I want a new experience and something faster.

I switched from a Palm Pre to the Evo Shift 4G. The difference is like night and day. I honestly really like Palm WebOS, but the phone itself was horribly slow, even when overclocked to 800 MHz+.

This was an obvious switch for me. I switched from the HTC Hero (curse that phone to cell phone hades) and I switched because there were three things I wanted in a phone: 1. a phone that wouldn't become completely unusable when writing a text and receiving a phone call, 2. a phone by HTC and 3. a phone with a qwerty keyboard.

Though I wish some things were different (spring loaded keyboard, front facing camera, mini-usb instead of micro), i am very happy with my phone and love it to bits.

I bet you'd wish you have done this a long time ago. Me too... :D

Enjoy.

Well, if the Shift were out a long time ago, then yes! I was biding my time waiting for either a suitable Android phone (the Epic and Evo are just too big) or the next Palm phone, whichever came first. Unless Palm/HP really wows me with another phone (seems unlikely seeing as how it's been over a year), I'm sticking with HTC+ Android for a while. :D

My previous "loved phone" was the Palm Pre. I really loved the operating system and the design of the phone, but the build quality was crap. In four months I broke two Pre's and a Pixi.:'( Plus there is very little third party support, hardly any vendors making software.

After breaking the Pixi I decided to try out Android. I picked up a Samsung Moment and really liked it. it however is a limited phone as compared to some of the newer phones, so as soon as I was elegible for upgrade I picked up the Shift. So much better.:D

I went through 4 Pres! And I'm not one of those people who flip out and get warranty replacements all the time. The Pre is the only phone I ever had to replace more than once, and the only phone before that I had to replace at all was the Samsung Instinct. The Pre and Pixi simply aren't robust phones. A sad reality for Palm, that and selling to HP. Let's hope HP does right by Palm's legacy.

And despite the lack of official apps, there are numerous and excellent homebrew apps for the Pre. That and the Pre community are one thing I liked a lot about WebOS.

Well we are glad your "Here today GoneTomorrow"....lol

Someone had to say it,
Dave

LOL, not gone tomorrow anytime soon from Android. ;)

Will have the Shift soon. I did no research. It gets me crazy. Called Sprint yesterday and they said the latest android was the shift. I paused along time and agreed to take it. Please tell me there is the ability to copy and paste?
My Treo 755p was so old cheap and easy. Prayers to you all.

Agree, the WebOS platform was awesome. Just too many issues and no new phones coming out.

Ya my first android was the Moment, and it was my experiment phone to see if I liked Android. I had exhausted my phones capability, but now that I have my Shift I will be more active.

I too loved my pre, but the hardware quality and rough around the edges software was too much. Then add in how they (palm) removed a ton of features that die hard palm users like myself relied on and that was the nail in the coffin for me. I thought at first that they would change their ways and that the next palm pre or webos phone would be different but it wasnt. Still the same cheap hardware just a VERY slight facelift.

Wow, you hold on to your phones. I had the Windows Mobile 750 a will ago. Great phone for the time, I was sad to see it go.

Copy and paste text? Mostly. Text messaging, email, browser, yes. Quickoffice documents or Market app descriptions, no (as far as I can tell). The inconsistency is a bit maddening...
