Which phone are you upgrading to (if you are)?

VM will probably throw on their bloatware so we will want to root. Also there's lots of apps that use root that are cool, and if you want anything other than sense 4 you want root. I personally want vanilla ics.

Yep I agree.. Color me in on the Evo 4G /w vanilla ics Yummy.. June seems so far away!!

Think I might look into the One V or the Evo. I don't have 4g in my area so right now I'm leaning toward the One V.

If Sprint has quit developing WiMax I don't guess my area will be getting any 4g service through Virgin Mobile?

I don't have it in my area either, so its going to stay off. Even if I have to pay extra per month, I'm considering getting it. The price worries but I'm ready for the heavy hit. Can't wait for a good phone though :D (not that my little oV is a slouch!)

Looks like an evo 4g only due to no reference of 3d at all in the features list.

EVO 4G had an 8MP camera. EVO 3D has a 5MP dual camera. It is the EVO 3D. You can see the 2D-3D switch on the photo.

EDIT: From the Press Release-

* Mobile hotspot capability – Connect up to five Wi-Fi devices
* 5MP camera with video and 3D HD imaging, and 1.3MP front-facing camera
* 4.3-inch qHD touchscreen
* 1730mAh battery (up to six hours of talk time)
* 1GB RAM/4GB ROM
* External micro SD memory card slot up to 32GB (8GB card included)
* HDMI and Bluetooth-capable

I feel sort of bad doing it, but for some reason I just couldn't turn it down. I've been with a tablet for over a year, and my main motivation for it was paying $30 a month, versus $80. Eventually I picked up a cheap pay-as-you-go-phone. But now I've gone and pre-ordered the Evo LTE, so I can go back to having one device to carry around. This completely negates the whole purpose of having a cheaper bill, but oh well. I'm excited about it just the same. I'll be trading in my old stack of devices to pay for the phone, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Thanks, I had it switched around thinking the 3d had 8mp and the 4g had 5mp. My bad.

So, now that the Evo is announced for $299.99, my deciding factor will be how much the Triumph goes down in price. If it's less or equal to a $100 difference, I'd just go for the Evo.

I just got into upgrading my OV because i didn't think VM would come out with anything i liked better anytime soon. I even thought about switching carriers so i could get a 3d, now i don't have to! And as for the price - if you have to worry about it, should you really be looking into buying new gadgets to begin with?

Now just to figure out who to give my newly tricked out V to?
*thanks to LesslieAnn of course*

I had the Triumph for 3 days. I'd beg you for your sake not to bother getting it. It really is about as bad as most reviews say. The worst part is there is virtually no devs focusing on the triumph. A dead end IMO.

See, I read things like this and then I read things like "oh, there was just a bad batch and cm7 solves all the problems." I doubt they will take the phone to an under 200 price range which is the only way I'd consider it

hmmm.....wondering if I could somehow sell my OV and my Dropad A8 tablet to cover the $300 that the Evo costs....

Never had luck with Craigslist though.

It's $220 on Amazon now and it has dropped sub-$200 a few times. I got mine for $130 on Black Friday last year and for the price I paid, it is worth it. I put CM7 on it and have been really happy. I love the bigger screen, increased space and speed so much, I can't make myself go back to the OV despite the few nagging issues. For reference I had an OV with Bumblebee before I switched.

For the MT, the pros are: Speed, Screen, Space

the cons are:

GPS lock (takes at least twice as long as my OV did)
occasionally a capacitive button will stop working for a little bit (I'll press home and it won't do anything, so I will have to hit back to make to do anything)
The reception is somewhat worse the the OV (but not drastically so)
To make the phone work well, I put on CM7 (gingerbread), which doesn't have HDMI out, which I wish I had.
The most annoying bug though is an audio one. This one drives me crazy. It depends on the audio app you are using, but, for example, if you listen to Pandora and hook your phone up to headphones or an Aux input in your car like I do, then get a text or email or other notification, it cuts the volume by half or so. In the past, it would only come back if you paused the audio app for 5-10 seconds and started back. Lately, with Pandora, when it switches to the next song, the volume often comes back, which means it is super loud all of a sudden. This bug alone is almost worth switching back since I use my phone to listen to music in my car a lot. All roms (even the stock one) have it, although some seem to get hit by it more than others (when I used the MUIU rom, it didn't seem quite as often).

Anyway, for $130, it is worth it, for more, I'm not so sure. I really want the new Evo 3d when it comes out, but my major sticking point is that it would up me from the $25 plan to the $35. At that price, it makes me think I should just go to simple mobile and get unlimited everything for $40.

I'd buy the triumph if the price was right. Modding and development community support or not. i think its a great phone even if stock only.
