Which phone are you upgrading to (if you are)?

my vm 3g actually outperformed the openrange. because of that i promptly dumped openrange in favor of my vm service lol. im serious,it was awful. now mind you those wireless modems could have had a lot to do with reception. those openrange clowns claimed everything caused signal interference. even my xbox lol wow. it doesn't even broadcast a signal that i know of. and it did appear from my tests on openrange that there was definite bandwidth bottleknecking occuring. my next door neighbor had it also and when ever she was actively using and so was i,we both experienced dramatic drops in speed.

Strange.
The office I was in, probably had 5 other people using it.
These were the home/small business router versions though, not simply a stick. Sticks get worse reception, that is certain.

I don't expect them to keep selling the OV more than another 6 months. However, it may bottom out at $59 or $79 msrp. The lowest I would expect to ever see it again is $50.

Face it, it has old software and old hardware. Why upgrade it when they can sell you something newer and better, and preferably get you onto 4g.

.

I think the person said One V, not optimus V

I wish HTC and VM would report when ONE V will be out exactly. I mean I figure they are working it out to see how HTC ONE V would work under 4G/WiMax which may mean a little alteration might go on.

Wimax is very good in stpaul mn so i guess ill go with the evo 3g; now i gotta work even more to buy it :P

Ok, so I guess that my question is that if the Evo doesnt come with a 3D screen would there be a way to purchase one and have it put in? Not that I need a 3D screen by any means, it would just be nice to have the option.

I just think its weird that it has the 3d camera but not screen, you can tell by the dual lenses. Maybe it just doesn't have the proper kernel or software for it. Does anyone know if any of the ifs roms for the sprint evo 3d have 3d functionality? Maybe the software is just not configured for it out of the box

It has 3d, its just turned off by default. The slider next to the cameras button, I believe, turns it on.

That's what I assumed, but people kept saying it doesn't have 3d so i was trying to figure out how can it not have 3d. Anyways once again I'm not a fan of 3d propaganda, so it doesn't really matter either way

I don't want the 3d portion, I just want the better phone. My Evo is nice but the lack of support is a hassle. The OV is nice, but tiny and slow.

Id like to get a 3d the1.2 ghz dual core processor and larger screen have me sold but I've read that they get poorer cell radio reception than the v so I'll wait and see cause I average 2 bars

It will have 3D for pictures & video playback & viewing......

http://www.androidcentral.com/wimax-hits-virgin-mobile-htc-evo-v-4g

"5MP camera with video and 3D HD imaging, and 1.3MP front-facing camera"

From what I understand (from several reliable sources) The full functionality of the camera and video recording in 3D is there.

What they did change is the ability to see menus & home screens in 3D. That is why there is so much confusion on whether or not this phone has 3D.

They disabled part of it & kept part of it. I think I am 99.9% correct on this........ Either way VM can not take my $MONEY$ fast enough! I WANT this phone......:D

From what I heard they didn't want to focus on the 3D part of the phone since when they did before it did poorly.

This is true here is a quote from a article I read.

Sprint Big Dogs said:
Sprint says that the change from Evo 3D to Evo V is an attempt to re-market the device on its own merits instead as just a 3D device.

I think I've decided to try to sell one of my guitars and hope I can get $300 for either this or the GNEX.

That was what I figured as well.

And agreed!

I hate when I hear things like this.
How is this being measured? Radio testing is a hassle.
Here's the problem... If it's based comparing to another phone, where both phones in the same places? Also, if it's worse than phone X, it could still be better than phone Y.

If you use bars... bars are programmed. You cannot compare between the two, because you can change the settings for each bar if you know where to look. Want 4 bars all of the time, no matter what, you can do that (that is even easier!).

If you are looking at db ratings, those two are programmed in software. They are almost never calibrated, so unless you have a professional tool, it's all speculation as to how accurate it is.

Here is a perfect example...
My old Blackberry can show zero bars and still (barely) make calls.
The OV pretty much needs 2 bars for a stable call.
Ignoring the bars, they both make and receive calls in almost the exact same places. If one can make a call, so can the other, if one can't the other can't. The difference is almost nothing.

On the other had, my Evo 4g when it shows 1 bar, you can make a call. If it flickers that one bar on and off, so does your call. One bar is the exact point you can or cannot make a call. It also gets reception in places the other two do not, but only barely.

I'm not saying the OV will have better reception or worse, but until we have someone who has had both for a bit of time, it's all speculation.

one thing i want to add to "why did they change name from 3D to V, and didn't focus on 3D aspect from the announcement" discussion, is that they might want to market the HTC phones as "V" family, considering HTC One V is coming this summer.
Evo V=high-end. One V=low-end.
